After we obtained a mortgage for our current home, it was sold to Litton Loan Servicing LLP(in 2000). Initially they weren't a problem however, when our circumstances changed (my husband had to retire due to a disability and we are raising our murdered daughter's children) they were less than cooperative. On several ocassions I asked to have the payment due date changed from the 1st to the 15th, they continuously said they never received my letters.
I have just today sent more letters, this time certified. To make matters worse, the harassing phone calls started; initially they waited until after the late date to start calling about the payment, for the last year they start on the 1st of the month (if the payment isn't in the office) and keep up until they receive a payment. An ocassional call wouldn't be bad, but they call almost every hour between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. and answering the call doesn't make them stop.
If I tell them when I'll be able to make the payment, they still continue to call. What's really annoying is that most of the calls aren't even a live person, but a pre-recorded message asking us to "call back". So far they haven't used abusive language, but I expect that will be the next thing. And finally, there are the fees, currently listed as "suspense" fees, no one at the company can explain exactly what these fees are. That's great because they total quite a bit of money, and I don't intend to pay until someone explains them to my satisfaction.
People need to know that getting your mortgage or other loan from one company doesn't mean it won't end up with Litton Loan Servicing, seems like they buy up anything they can get.

My situation with Litton Loan started out exactly the same way. It wasn't until July of 2003 and my involvement with certain support groups and being unemployed that Litton just did not careand started bothering me.
Funny part is their reminder letters advise you to contact them if you are having problems, did that, some answers from Litton were rude and others it was not their problem or nothing they can do. Then why ask?
Referencing to your situation do you belong to any support groups?
I belong to a few and they are a great help for moral support and tons of information/advice.

Hang in there and start contacting the FTC and your State Attorney General & Eliott Spitzer the GA from New York, also the state Banking Commmission.
Also check out the county filings for deeds and notes, find out who owns & holds your note & mortgage.
Remember Litton Loan is only a collection agency and a servicer of your contract, they do not own the rights and are only held responsible for collecting your monthly installment, nothing more nothing less.
If you have HUD and RESPA on your contract contact them as well. Also contact NACA, they have a program for escape from predatory servicers and lenders.
Fight like hell and God Bless!
