#2 Consumer Suggestion
Costco and Sams are NOT the same

Sam's Club is First Data. First Data has thousands of independents out there selling their services and claiming to be processing companies and as you mentioned, you don't know who is the actual back office processor.
Look at the Sam's brochure and then look at the Costco brochure. Sam's says it is First Data. Costco says it is Elavon (sponsored by US Bank - one of the strongest and most respected banks in the industry according to MSN and CNN).
Now do a search for First Data here on this web site and another one for Elavon. You'll see about 175 complaints on FD and only about a dozen for Elavon (many on both hits are not quite legitimate compliants). Elavon's web site says it services more than 1 million clients in over 30 countries. With that many clients, I'd there's a pretty good chance of having good service.
Also, now that I think about it, if Elavon is owned by US Bank, you might find out if US Bank will match the Elavon rate and connect the Elavon account to a US Bank relationship. You might get faster funding and some accountability and they might match the special rates contracted through Costco.

If you have a problem with First Data Costco and Sam's isn't going to be much help to you, that's who they sell their paper to.... you'll be jumping out of the frying pan back into the fire.
Not to mention these big retail chains in most cases you'll pay higher fees because they make the difference much like you local bank does when they act as the broker.
You're welcome to give me a call if you want honest answers. I tell it like it like it is, you don't like it fine by all means go find somebody with the fairy tale for you, me, my retention rate at this office is 92% and we don't have headaches becuase everybody knows what they are getting and we don't do surprises PERIOD!!! We also don't do contracts here at my office, why should I? If I'm doing what I told you I'd do why on earth would you cancel?
In fact I can tell you right here right now, I've been in finance for 24 years this without ONE registered compliant The only one that will really lose in you not calling me, is you. You already know the water is full of sharks, might want to think on that before you take another swim.
