MI Homes Failure to enforce community standards Lewis Center Ohio

The Homeowners Association for the Towne Park community in Columbus is still being run by MI Homes, the builder for the community. the association is required to act when a homeowner fails to maintain their lawns and the weeds, or grass reaches a height of 14". 

We currently have homeowners that have not yet cut their grass in 2013, and it is now the end of June. Weeds have overtaken entire lawns, reaching a height of 29". This severe neglect of property in our community, that is still in process of being built, has the potential to ruin adjoining lawns due to the creeping spead of weeds. Even more importantly, it will affect our property values.

We have contaced the builder, the homeowners association and public relations representatives for HI Homes mulitple times over the last two months. They have done nothing to correct these problem properties despite repeated complaints. They responded that they did try cutting problem lawns and billing homeowners for it. But because these homeowners did not reimburse the association, the association just stopped trying to enforce association requirements. 

I had the assurance of MI Homes during the sales process thatI would never be in this situation. I feel they mis-represented the protection they promised to provide in ensuring other property owners will maintain mimimum standards of property maintainance.
