I don't know if ripeoff is the right term. But I feel it's necessary to inform others in all forums available of what happened to me at a Morgan Property. I'm a big believe that an informed consumer is a wiser consumer...>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Despite things seen inside, when I discovered they have an in-house quiet hours rule, I wanted to make Place One Apartments my home for what appeared to be my final days.......To my final breath I will believe I bought the biggest sales pitch ever!!!!
Noisy neighbors from day one that in my opinion the management of Place One was not being pro-active in having them conform to the in-house quiet hours rules would wake me from what I believe was foot stomping, kids running, noises like a ball bouncing, appliances running, door slamming etc. This was common 2 or 3 times a night and 5 or 6 nights a week during what was supposed to be a quiet time.
Because of my health, many times I needed a walker to get from my apartment to the front entrance..

They had been told many times I had cancer and needed my rest "INCLUDING" before I moved in........
IF what follows is what a senior, weak and sick person that can barely walk must go thru at a Morgan Property to IMO ensure ones quiet enjoyment rights I wonder what a young strapping healthy person would have to do under similar issues???
I found that at Place One Apartments I could move to another apartment to hopefully escape the nightly noise. However, I'd have to pay a $300 transfer fee to get away from something I didn't cause!!!! Plus more packing and moving expenses! Plus IMO pay rent on 2 units during the transition! Plus no guarantee I wouldn't get another noisy neighbor!
How can I control the neighbors nightly episodes?
IMO no apology of any type was offered while my Army veteran spouse tried to comfort my condition that continued to deteriorate. But I was allowed to break the contract IF I paid a penalty to get away from the noise....... I Paid what I belive was money taken from me while under duress.....
I would ask those involved in this decision how would they feel if the tables were turned???
ADDING to the stress,,, management gave me 7 days to decide if I was leaving or not but still wanted 60 days notice if I was leaving!!! IMO when people make the decision to move they take more than 7 days to think about, research and look at different properties......
Despite my weak condition, the pain I was in from chemo plus as sick as I was and barely able to walk due to the inflammation from some of the drugs being used... I had 7 days to get out of bed, grab my walker, find something else,,,,,,,,, or stay and possibly risk further health issues due to the constant lack of sleep.
I recall being so weak one day from looking at properties I collapsed in the entrance upon returning to my apartment........ I believe all the door man did was say, "He's going down, he's going down", but never offered any assistance while people walked around me............. Now I'm supposed to do what is needed in this condition in 7 days????
That money lost to Morgan Properties including a $500 amenity fee that I was NEVER able to use,,,,, more packing and moving expenses,,,,,,, plus the stress of moving while I was very ill and barely able to walk,,, could have been used to try and save my life or at least make me more comfortable...........
Then there's the emotional stress I had to endure for several months due to the constant lack of sleep,,,,,,I don't believe anyone at Morgan Properties gives a hoot but all this took my bucket list and turned it into a dream.
Place One says they invite you to come home for an exceptional living experience.... My time at Place One was exceptionally stressful!!!
But the stressful experience won't end!!
Now there's an issue with my security deposit. Even the housing people said this would happen.........Called several times requesting an explanation but the calls are not being returned, which in my opinion says a lot about the true nature of Morgan Properties!!!
Early July I sent a letter to Morgan Properties corporate office in King Of Prussia, Pa. asking why I was treated in the manner I was and for an explanation of charges against my security deposit to Place One Apartments. To date there has been no response.
The continued lack of response IMO is a big red flag when it comes to doing business with Morgan Properties.
One common response I've seen from Morgan people is apartment living can be challenging.... I believe apartment living is only as challenging as management will allow it to become..........
For over 15 years I've lived in various complexes and apartment living was just fine with me until this experience.
