I was first contacted by MxEnergy in August when I was getting ready to go out to dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. During this time, two people knocked on the door of my apartment and began speaking so fast that I barely could understand what they were saying.

What was basically said to me was that they were a subsidiary of PSE&G and that they were trying to save me money by giving me a fixed rate. They went on to explain how this would protect me from future spikes in the gas market. At first, it sounded intriguing considering the fact that, at times, my gas bill was pretty high. So, when I asked the two representatives how much the fixed rate was they replied $1.49. I believed that to be a high price so I asked them what the current price was. They could not give me an answer and tried to sidestep the question.

By this time I was suspicious, yet they insisted that they were with PSE&G and the way they explained things made it seem like they were a program for lower income people. However, in November I saw the price of my bill was three times what PSE&G's price was and in December the price was quadruple the price.

Outraged, I called the company to complain only to get roundabout answers and no one was willing to offer any solutions. I even talked to the supervisor to tell him how the representatives basically tricked me into this plan due to their vague explanations and lack of knowledge. He told me to pay the cancellation fee if I didn't want to use MxEnergy anymore.

This company is basically a scam who tries to take advantage of unaware people by making it seem that they will save loads of money monthly.
