MXenergy preys on the American public. They use bait and switch marketing tactics which traps people into "saving" money over the public utilities. It absolutely disgusts me the way this company treats not only their customers, but their employees as well. As both a former customer and employee- I have seen the devil from all angles.

I signed up with MXenergy almost immediately after joining the company, and convinced my extended family to do the same. MX has a great gimmick to save you money as a new customer, but as soon as your 3 months of savings is over, quite often you are paying more than you were with your original utility company because MXenergy's variable rates are horrendus- as I learned after a few months of employment. After taking it upon myself to read all the terms and conditions in each of the states where MX is a licensed supplier- I genuinely felt terrible. Not only because I had convinced my family to be swindled by my own employer, but because I now knew what all of MXenergy's customers had to deal with across the country; sky high cancellation rates, fine print that should basically say "we will drain your life savings by being your energy supplier", and endless billing problems with no resolutions.

The sales representatives that this company hires are shady, often fly by night organizations that practically accost people at their own front doors; MX pays them in peanuts basically and these guys pound the pavement trying to convince unsuspecting people that they are being taken for a ride by their utility companies and that MXenergy will save them. MXenergy is worse than the public utilities. They prey on the public's economic fears.

As a former employee, I was on the "inside", and it is not pretty. They can't keep employees, and the ones who do remain longer than their "temp to hire" timeframe (few do; you are worked to the bone, expected to answer your emails at midnight and let them run your life- then they let you go right when you should be getting the offer letter that was promised), they treat everyone with zero respect, and their is a constant power struggle within the company.

MXenergy needs to be stopped. I doubt that it can be done through an investigation of their finances, because they keep their books squeaky clean. The legal team has made this scam of a company airtight and there is no way they can go down in the way they deserve, unless customers keep dropping off. Even the way they present themselves is a lie. "One of the fastest growing suppliers..... more than 500,000 customers". False. They keep acquiring tiny companies and their unsuspecting customers. The company has no organic growth, because the public is becoming keen on their sham- so the only way to get customers is to pay for a company acquisition. One of the last meetings I attended before leaving the company was to address the fact that we had ZERO organic growth and customers were dropping like flies. Just awful.

Please spread the word if you have been taken for a ride by MXenergy- I feel terrible for those who could barely afford their energy bills prior to becoming MX customers, and now may be even worse off. This company needs to go down, if only it could be done single-handedly.

mxenergy saved me

AUTHOR: bhawk325 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, December 04, 2011

I live in Baltimore, MD. where BGE is the dominant energy supplier and they are not cheap at all. I had been complaining about the cost on my bills for months. Ironically, I had just gotten off the phone with the public service commission complaining about this company when mxenergy reps knocked on my door. Needless to say I signed up because I figured it couldn't get worse. Well my first bill from mxenergy was $164.00 for a months service. My pass five bills had been between $450 and $550 each month. I since have told everyone who is going through what I was to switch. Thanks to mxenergy, I saved hundreds of dollars. This person complaining must have gotten fired and is bitter but mxenergy did exactly as they promised, cut my bill more than half.

Ironic facts not included

AUTHOR: Heidi Oraczewski - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 23, 2010

In Jan of 2010, in PA the PP&L area/region had a rate increase, and permitted only 5 different electric generating companies to generate electric within the PP&L service area/grid.  MXenergy is one of the original 5, they also offered no early termination fees.

I have met people who have been using MXenergy for their supplier since the beginning of the year, and they have NO complaints.  Personally I live on the boarder, in the First Energy region.

I had heard and then researched and found that MXenergy was listed in number 6th out of 100 in 2008 out of ALL of the growing businesses by Entrepreneur Magazine.  Although, I cannot find the page today that I found a few months ago, I did find quite a few other links that relate to my google search.  The original page I had found was on www.entrepreneur.com/hot100/details/20086.html  If you are interested in the truth you can search www.entrepreneur.com for MXenergy, you will find once there was an article that had posted this "con-company" number 6th out of the top (professional) 100 companies in the country.  (NOTE - there were no other electric providers were listed in this top 100.)

Remember if this company "Preys" on customers, then why would Jeff Myer post on YouTube MXenergy's Call for a Customer's Bill of Rights?  I have not met anyone who has felt MXenergy Preyed on them, in PA. True I don't know everyone, but I was shocked to read that someone actually filed a rip off report.

On a personal note -
 - I always find it interesting how people who have the "balls" to talk smack, and voice as much negativity as they want, and they are expected to be taken honestly and on a "professional" level, yet people like this cannot even honestly or professional put their name to what they have to say.
 - Ironic isn't it - how a person can hold a grudge because of what someone else did to them or told them, and they feel as if it was slitted, yet they can act out and speak out without any accountability, yet their's is to be the "better" opinion.

Finally if you have read all of this - remember you will need electric, just as people use transportation, some people use cars, others trains.  Just because one person might not like a certain manufacture doesn't mean that everyone will have a bad experience.

Freedom of speech

AUTHOR: TRUTH - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 09, 2010

Its a shame that our freedom of speech is so often abused and misused for personal vendetta.

I have worked for marketing companies who represented MX energy. It is certainly not fair to connect MX energy with whatever experiences employees might have had with a particular marketing company. I actually did very well for myself in the brief six months I represented MX energy as a door to door agent. The experience I gained through learning how to communicate with confidence and persuasion is priceless. I have had a bit of education. In this economy I found myself out of work, and my education didn't really help much when it came to job placement. I was certainly cautious when I interviewed for an opportunity to help people to stabilize and reduce the cost of the gas and electric bills. I never knew that these utility companies who bill us, actually buy they're electricity and gas from wholesale suppliers, cheap as possible, and then they mark up the price as high as is allowed by law....thats just business....so companies like MX( who by the way IS the fastest growing energy supplier in the country)..because of the rate caps coming off...have the ability in a tough economy, with any wise person saving anyway they can....even if its only 5 bucks a month...although through MX I have had customers I have personally signed up saving between 30 and 40 bucks a month....clear to see on the bills....simple....easy....free...and wise. Nothing is perfect, so sometimes a few people may have had the market drastically change, resulting in less savings, and sometimes(though rare) people had to make a more beneficial choice elsewhere. Most of the complaints I heard were from folks who thought they knew everything, misunderstood, or were just plain confused about deregulation and what the benefits are. NO magic wand, no tricks....just save money when you can....especially in todays economy!

I have had the privilege to work side by side with the young men and women who have a determination for achieving financial security. We all felt good about what we do for a living....offering opportunity in a time when people are finding it ever increasingly difficult to find gainful employment. This type of occupation is not for the faint hearted. We go out into the world knocking door to door every day come rain come shine...we are met with smiles and frowns, pleasant people and plain nasty folk too...we learn to strive for personal excellence....its up to ME how much money I make...by how determined I am. This is the American Dream!!

I am convinced, after reading this negative, erroneous report...that this person is not suited for this type of business. I have met highly educated professionals who even though they don't have a job, opportunity, or income...they put the nose in the air to "Door to Door"....to smart to make money....prefer some cushy "job"...while young hungry guys and girls who may not have even finished High school are bringing in 1,000 or 2,000 every week...and they are willing to do what it takes to be a champion....others still whine and complain...."its not fair"...."the leads are weak"...."I'm cold"...."the territory has already been worked".....boo-h*o

You have choices....two people will be given the same opportunity.....one will become very successful....while the other snivels, whines, complains, and spends they're valuable time writing slanderous articles on web sites like rip off report....was it the company?was it the opportunity? NO...its the person! Be determined,POSITIVE, and be good students....I love door to door!

Hopefully the person who wrote this has found a place where they can be of value and use whatever they're particular set of skills are.....perhaps a writer for the inquirer(unfortunately...people believe that stuff too) "It was on the internet....it must be true!"

Good luck with that

Mx is a godsend to overcharged home owners

AUTHOR: Rdehaan - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, December 28, 2009

I am writing to refute the blatant trash talk of an unsatisfied former employee of Mx Energy. I am the office manager of an advertising company that subcontracts for MX Energy in the residential sales department. We have represented Mx for many months now by marketing their services to consumers at a residential level. My employees are extremely kind and courteous to homeowners and have never been accused of accosting anyone. We actually receive letters from the people we sign up thanking us for giving them savings on their natural gas costs. I also have Mx at both of my residents here in Michigan and have never had a problem with service or billing issues. I believe that I am not only creating well paying jobs in this stagnate economy but helping homeowners in a society that would much rather throw them under the bus so to speak. I am thankful for companies like Mx that force the monopolizing utilities to cut homeowners a break with no fees and low rates without contracts or hassles.
