After applying for a pay-day loan, I received an email informing me that I had signed up for a National Platinum membership for a purchasing card and my bank account would be debited for $79.95. I sent a reply immediately demanding cancellation or I would file a report with the BBB and FBI Consumer Fraud Division as I felt I was tricked and mislead into signing up for a membership I did not want and did not wat to pay for. I suceeded, but their repy was:

"We don't take kindly to threats. You submitted your application to National Platinum through the loan application you submitted online. The NP offer was on the loan application you submitted. Therefore, you were not tricked. It is an applicant's responsibility to read an application and/or its Terms & Conditions in its entirety. "

"We are aware that people make mistakes & sometimes have a tendency to not read all that is stated on an application. That's why our system is set up to send an email immediately to inform of the receipt of the National Platinum application. The email was sent to the email address you provided on your application."

"We have no problem providing evidence proving &/or supporting the fact that you submitted the National Platinum application & initiated the $79.95 debit."

"However, your National Platinum application has been cancelled. Your bank account will not be debited."

TOTALLY UNBUSINESSLIKE - DUE - ACCUSING - AND THREATENING. I forwarded this to an attorney friend who said that is illegal to do in the state of California and I they DID debit my account, I might have a legit complaint and possible lawsuit - provided I could find someone to serve papers on.

Maybe I lucked out with the cancellation - but my reply was tough.
