NCO Financial Systems phony collection letter sent to minor ripoff Horsham Pennsylvania
*Consumer Comment: Check
*Consumer Suggestion: Lynn, contact the 3 major bureau's to see if any thing else is in your son's name
My son, age 13, received a collection letter from NCO Financial Systems, Inc. in the amt of $95.60 for AOL.
Like many of you, I called the number on the letter with no such luck. After reading a variety of information on the internet about this crook of a company, I sent ahead and sent a certified return receipt validation letter disputing the claim and asking them to prove the charge.
Can you believe this, a collection letter sent to a minor!!!!
Don't give a cent to this ripoff company!!!!!!!

Companies like AOL, and other websites do not verify age of members all too well....Why dont you check and see what your kid is doing online.

don't expect NCO. to correct this, it's possible someone else has your child ssn#. contact all the credit agency's, with a copy of the letter nco send you. or your local police dept.
don't let this go, most collection agency's wait a while before placing items on reports so as to add interest, fee, ect. when your child comes of age, it possible alot of false accounts would be on his credit report, and it will be hard to remove without taking some of the agency's to court.
even if nco sends you a letter, correcting this follow up to all credit agency's, and save all these letter to help your child down the road.
nco, is by far the worst collection company.
don't send nco, a copy of your child social security card or birth record, they will hold onto them and sell this information with the account down the road.
try to contact the original creditor, via us mail. keep copies of that too. if you get no where, contact the police for a report, it will help, and if someone had used your child ssn#. the law can take action.
