I purchased two Western Digital hard drives for my son for Christmas and each had a $30 rebate offered. Only reason I picked those was the rebate. I sent the rebate (WD3000GLFS DECEMBER 2008 OFFER) with all the proper information by Jan. 12 as required, it was verified & accepted by CheckMyRebate on Jan 21 which was apparently servicing the rebates for Newegg & Western Digital. I did NOT know it was a third party servicing type rebate, or I would not have bought the merchandise at the website. Well, according to CMR, that is where the rebate has sat for 3 months. After about 10-15 complaints sent to NewEgg & CMR (Western Digital says they have not done rebates since 2006 - although the rebate was sent to "Western Digital"). Now, it is "preparing to be shipped"...for the last 2 weeks. It is a check, how long can it take to prepare? Meanwhile I am still sending emails off to them & Newegg to no avail. I will never purchase anything from Newegg ever again that has a rebate attached. All companies should be required to tell you if a 3rd party is servicing it. A third party has nothing to lose by keeping you in limbo for over 3 months like I have been.
