Nat'l Magazine Echange - Satisfied customer

I have been a customer of NME for about 3 years (maybe more) and have been very happy with their service. I have calculated the cost of both purchasing the magazines off the shelves and getting individual subscriptions to each magazine we receive (a lot!) and neither of them can beat the cost of going through NME. In fact I have recommended them to friends.
My only complaint would be that I wish they carried a bigger selection of magazines, but I still have chosen to stay with them for their customer service and lack of pressure for additional sales.
They call me approximately twice a year to check on my how happy I've been with the service etc. and, yes they always do offer to extend my subscription at additional price (they are sales people after all), although are very gracious if I decline. No pressure.
I have had maybe one or two concerns with my account, but they have always cleared it up immediately. These were of very minor concerns.
So, as I came across this site on accident, I was taken by total surprise of all the negative comments regarding NME.
I can't comment on anything regarding the working environment and/or treatment of the employees, although I will say that they have ALWAYS been pleasant and courteous to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.
Maybe the people how are complaining need to read the fine print (common sense to most people) before making assumptions and accusations. Also listen to what the company has to say and try to get the whole picture to better understand what exactly it is they have received.
I'm sorry for those who've gotten so bent out of shape over some of these issues when there are bigger concerns in this world, and more importantly, probably their own lives as well. I believe that in a majority of disputes in any situation is a lack of listening and understanding the big picture, causing people to jump to the wrong conclusion too quickly.

Does your wonderful company make it a practice to solicit 14 year olds with your junk mail?

If it is such a rip off how could it remain in business since 1984?? No matter what department I have worked in there are specific things, scripted things that we are required by law to tell the consumer. For instance in the outbound department in order for the sale to count we record the entire process. How is that a rip off?? We tell the consumer specifically what the different payment options are and during the recording of the sale we get permission to bill the credit card they have provided or their permission to use the credit we have on file from a previous order. In my opinion how is it a rip off to pay $1.29 a week for 5 or sometimes 7 magazines???
I enjoy working for the NME and will continue to work there as long as they will have me... Maybe if consumers listened to what is being said they would understand what they are doing.
