Oakwood Homes ripped off for 30 years Raleigh North Carolina

We bought our home from Oakwood in Raleigh in 2003. They were very deceiving about everything from day one. We had a 2400 sq.ft. doublewide set up permanently on our 10 acre lot.

First they installed our power box in the wrong location (there was a sticker from the factory on the side of the home that said power hookup) which costs us $500 extra to have our power hooked up.

Secondly, when they finished setting our home up we noticed the roof had several sags in it. We were told that was normal - nothing to worry about.

Thirdly, they refused to give us an itemized statement showing what work was done and what it costs. By my calculations they overcharged us about $30,000.00.

We have lived here four years. The floor in the hallway, the laundry room, 1 bathroom, and part of the den have had to be replaced from water damage and mold and mildew. The flooring all over the house has begun to sag - it is all uneven. Seventy five percent of the windows leak and stay covered in mildew. The ceilings have cracks at each joint of the sheetrock.

The house is covered in vinyl siding. Underneath that siding is some kind of particle board that has become wet or was wet at some point between the time of delivery and now. It has warped badly. When you look down the side of my home it looks like waves in the ocean. The back door doesn't seal properly and leaks when it rains.

We can't figure out why a house that costs so much has fallen apart so rapidly. A very poorly made home. We would not advise anyone to deal with Oakwood.

This house will not last the thirty years I have it financed for.

If anyone knows what can be done to make this sorry excuse for a company pay for its lies, deceit, and poor workmanship, please let me know.
