I got my loan almost four years ago. From onemain. She appeared nice, caring person. As I closed my loan. She went over the paper work so fast. Just saying that it means this and that. Which now I found out was a lie. She told me I was getting 100,000 life Insurance. That I could continue after my loan is paid off. That I also got insurance on my family house. Which was a lie.
I found out today it was only security for them to get their money if I died. But it was insurance on my loan. Which meaning if I died they pay my loan off. I called from local branch all the way up the line. Each person is telling me different lies. When I tell them what the person said that they transferred me to they say they ain’t telling the truth.
They stated that I paid the entire insurance up front. Then move to say for me canceling the insurance my refund was a loan from them. I canceled the insurance and they telling me I’m not covered but I still have to pay the same amount each month but I have canceled the insurance. How I got to continue to pay for something that was canceled and tricked me into getting. Then they telling me this canceled but come to find out it’s not canceled they still charging me.
I was loyal customer for almost four years. They saying that they’ve changed this and that since my long. But want tell me what regulations the government made them change. Now I wished I’ve never had done business with OneMain. Branch manager is lost don’t no what to tell or not. I just need so legal advice. I feel they are hiding information about my account.

Has anyone seen the contract?

First off, when you choose to post about an issue like this in a public forum, which this is, you are indeed inviting commentary, whether it be for or against your claim. And we too, in commenting, invite bilious push back of the nature of your counter response.
Now obvious neither he nor I have seen your contract. The question was HAVE YOU seen your contract?
If your contract backs up what you believed you were to be charged monthly to pay off your loan, then you have a case to bring against them with whatever state agency oversees their activities.
If your contract backs them, well paper and ink unfortunately for you counts for a lot more than perception, memory and verbal promised real or imagined. I've also been screwed by not reading and questioning everything I've been told. Most people do not have the patience to read an entire contract, but when push comes to shove and your memory doesn't match the written word, you're sorta, kinda out of luck, bud.
As for the insurance, OneMain strikes me as a high risk personal and auto loan lender. Being four years old, with insurance to cover something related to your home, I'm assuming this is a home equity loan?
It's not beyond the pale for a lender, especially a low end of the market lender to hedge their bets with insurance on the borrower to ensure upon your demise they get paid, especially if they do not have senior security on any collateral, for example if you have a mortgage lender who gets your house should you default, or die broke and that mortgager gets first dibs on repayment/foreclosure possession, then the only security OneMain has behind them is this insurance. You can't just up and decide midstream to ditch that insurance - it's part of your loan agreement.
UNLESS it isn't and only you would know, since you hold the contract.

Actually I do have my contract. But they say since my loan was so old that the government had changed the regulations. When I asked what they changed he wouldn’t go into detail. But I have a lawyer that contacted me today that willing to look into.

Any and all terms and conditions of this insurance are included in the paperwork...the contract...which YOU agreed to when you signed. You didn't even bother to READ what you were signing, did you??? What is wrong with you people???
