Orange Lake Holiday Inn Club VacationsMyrtle Beach, South Beach Resort Misrepresentation of timeshare, no return calls, lies to entice into a contract/purchase. Stated would return call and waited until it was too late for me to do anything, even though I told them day one I wanted to cancel the contract. Lied and caused me to be stuck with a timeshare I did not want. Myrtle Beach South Carolina

I was in Myrtle Beach for one of your Timeshare presentations on 8/15/13. During this time Robbie Leopard lead this tour.

On 8/16/13, the day after the contract was issued, we (party of 3) returned to discuss my hesitation with regards to the contract and since Robbie was off this day, his manager, Danette Gyurokovics, talked to us. During our conversation it was mentioned that I wanted to cancel this contract. I felt at this time, since Danette is a Manager representing Holiday Inn Vacation Club, she should have mentioned that it was permissible to cancel per the contract. She did not extend this information and continued to manipulate the conversation.  She told me that she would talk with Robbie upon his return and advise him that I had some concerns.

After we left this meeting with Danette, we went to the pool area and a guest that was enjoying the pool mentioned that he was not a timeshare participant and had just made the reservation on line. During the timeshare presentation, we (party of 3) were lead to believe that this was a timeshare and at the time it was not made known that the Holiday Inn Club Vacations is actually being leased to the general public. I returned at a later date to talk with Robbie (believe 8/19-day before my departure back to Michigan) he was sick this day. I was under the impression that Robbie would be contacting me upon his return as mentioned by Danette. There have been no return calls and I feel if your Management had a little business ethics, I would not be in this situation that has caused me so much anguish and a less than enjoyable vacation to Myrtle Beach.

On 8/20, the next day, my family and I were returned to Michigan. Upon return to Michigan I tried to contact Robbie once again, then again. I do have records of my calls. I talked with Shay (believed to be receptionist) and asked if I could talk with the Director, Rodney Capps, she said that he ‘was not available.’ When I asked to talk with Robbie, she said he was ‘out on a tour’ – then I asked to talk with Danette. Shay stated that ‘Danette was out on a tour’ as well as Robbie. Shay insisted that Robbie got my first message and she would give him the second and he would be calling me later that day. Well I have had no calls returned as of 8/26/13. Therefore, I called the Pending Sales Department and mentioned to them that nobody has returned any of my calls. The girl in Pending Sales stated that I should call Beth McHale, Quality Assurance Officer, of which I mentioned I had called her and still not received a returned call. The Pending sales Department sent Beth an e-mail that I was in need of a returned call, and Beth did return my call that evening.

I mentioned to Beth my issues with regards to the lack of communication and the timeshare leasing – which she stated does not happen. Although – there is a direct link on your website to make a reservation. I actually tried to make a reservation myself as a non-member and had no problem.  I also mentioned during this returned call to Beth that I wanted to cancel the contract and have been unable to reach anyone at HICV-Myrtle Beach.

Allen Holston, Quality Assurance Manager, followed up with a returned call on 8/28 (returning a call I had left for Beth-she was now off work per Allen). Allen Holston, mentioned that I needed to put the cancellation in writing. I feel that since my first contact with Danette on 8/16/13 (day after contract issuance) she should have indicated that it was permissible to cancel in writing. I would have done that then. Instead I have been continually calling Robbie, Danette, Beth, Rodney Capps -- the Director, Pending Sales and finally someone tells me this???

Timeshare Companies are a SCAM

AUTHOR: SBrittany - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Most timeshare companies are taking advantage of people, often those who are more vulnerable and less able to resist hard sales tactics. I have heard of many cases where maintenance costs rise well above inflation. It would appear the timeshare companies lock people into contracts and then drive up their profits though increased maintenance charges. It would be good to see legislation whereby timeshare companies can only charge "reasonable" maintenance costs and not use this annual fee to fleece people's bank accounts. PS - I do not own a timeshare, never have and never will unless legislation is introduced to protect buyers.
