A collection agency representing Orchard Bank is threatening me with garnishment for a credit card that is not mine. They told me I have to get a affadavit of fraud from my police department or pay up. I called my police department and they said they do not do that, that the bank has to do this. I have already had two garnishments for credit cards that are not mine. How can I get this to stop?! They have my SS number. I have not had a credit card of any kind in about 7 years!

Sounds like they bought an old account you have forgotten about. However, if you are sure 100% then someone has your ss# and you have bigger issues than just this account. These collection agencies often buy old debt from 10-20 yrs ago for pennies on the dollar, so it is more likely this is an old debt you have forgotten about. They would have to sue to garnish you. They will tell you anything to get you to pay.
