I paid this company the start-up fee of $200 to consolidate some payday loans I had out. Originally I was told was I just had to pay the monthly fee of $152 per month and they would take care of the rest. I followed all their steps, tried to close my bank account, but your account automatically reopens if you have ACH debits (which is what these companies do). I continually called PDL Assistance to see where they were in contacting these companies. The first time, the woman asked me for the names and phone numbers of each company. What had been happening is that I contacted each payday loan company and gave them the phone # to PDL Assistance (as directed) and told them they would be handling my account from there on out. These companies said they would not contact anyone but myself, and that I needed to tell (PDL Assistance) to call the loan companies. So I told PDL Assistance to call them. They said they would and never did. I called PDL Assistance for a status check, and the next person told me that I had to wait until 2 payments were made, to show $ was collecting in the account before their people would contact any of the vendors. I've made my two payments and just called for a status check. This woman just told me that they couldn't do anything to get the vendors to stop debiting my account. I said "Aren't you supposed to be consolidating the debt and setting up payment arrangements?" I never really got a full answer back. I told her I wanted the money I had paid them refunded since they hadn't done one thing to help me, and she said someone would contact me in two days, but I might not get a refund. We'll see what happens. If I don't get a full refund, I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and any other company I can.

PDL Assistance Has Been A Lifesaver for Me

AUTHOR: Money$ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 07, 2009

In my experience PDL Assistance DOES work. I just completed the program; it does take time. I've just had two accounts settled and it's been about 8 to 10 months - but I haven't been getting the collection calls in the meantime. They are still negotiating my accounts, but since I've completed the program, now they have the $$ to make a deal with my creditors. PDL Assistance said they tend to negotiate with no more than 2 accounts at a time in order to try to get the best deal. I still have other outstanding accounts, but they're being taken care of.

The first thing I did when I joined their program was to close my bank account, as PDL Assistance instructed. Fortunately the bank was very cooperative; go in person, TALK TO THE MANAGER DIRECTLY and don't be embarrassed to explain your situation. They're very likely to understand & cooperate.

Just keep in mind PDL is waiting for the funds in your account to build up first in order to have $$ with which to negotiate a settlement with your creditors. They can't settle an account after just 1 payment to them. This takes time and is nerve wracking, but it will work. Also keep in mind - the creditors are waiting for the funds to build up too, so that they can get the most $$ possible when they negotiate with PDL. They know they won't get much if they're willing to settle right now, when your new account hasn't had the time for funds to build up yet. Once PDL has contacted them and sent the paperwork you should find that the calls will stop. Follow the instructions on sending creditors the letters for validation of debt and to cease & desist from collection.

If you wait it out, it will be resolved and it will work.

Granted, keep in mind also that this isn't anything you can't do yourself working directly with the creditors - if you're up to it and have nerves of steel. Read up on the Fair Collection Practices Act - PDL Assistance is just following these procedures on your behalf. You can close your bank account yourself, send creditors the request for validation of debt & cease & desist letters to stop collection calls, all on your own. I just couldn't deal with it; and not having been through this before and not knowing if a collection agency could really have a sheriff come to my office to serve me with papers, not knowing that it is illegal for collection agencies to bully and threaten or contact your employer, friends or family after you've sent the cease & desist letter, I wasn't up to it. I was in the area that I felt I needed legal help, even though you can do this on your own. But read up on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - Google it and do your homework. You do have rights and it is a great relief and very empowering to educate yourself in the area of legal collection practices, and what collection agencies can and cannot do legally.

BUT - PDL Assistance is doing this on my behalf. I am still in negotations with other accounts but I'm not getting collection calls. And PDL Assistance can also negotiate a lower settlement than I probably would. They also know which Internet payday advance companies are legal or illegal in your state and can call them on it!

No, PDL Assistance is NOT a scam, it does work, it just takes time. And it would still take time if you did it on your own.

PDL is pushy

AUTHOR: Outdoorman - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 30, 2009

I called them as well after shopping around to other companies that do the same thing. I felt their enrollment fee was to high. They wanted twice what other companies wanted. I also didn't like the pushiness of the guy I spoke to. He seemed to dodge a few questions when I asked about the bank account they wanted me to setup.

I found another company, Relief LLC that seemed much more upfront with what they could do to help me out of my payday loan mess. They seem to know what they are talking about.. but then again who knows. I know that this program is going to take about 9 months so we will see what happens. Keeping my fingers crossed

Thank you

I recently contacted this company regarding my own personal payday loan debt. I was interested in doing business with the company, so I left my information on their site and waited for them to contact me. When the representative contacted me, I felt rushed, hurried, and it almost seemed as if they didn't really want me to read the information.

I was intrigued when I hung up the phone. One, because I saw the amount of money that would be paid to them for their percentage was close to $3,000.00. I also was weary because the contract was only available until you sign.

I was glad that I did not have to give them my banking account (I chose the money gram option) which also sent a signal of caution to me.

When I received the paperwork from them regarding this debt, the paperwork came from Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust. When I was told I needed to contact PDL instead of this company that would be handling my account, I decided to really sit down and look into this company more.

Looking here and other Consumer sites has given me this overwhelming feeling of doubt. That overwhelming doubt has left me reconsidering their offer of assistance.

I can't undo what they did to you, but you have kept me from falling victim to this company.

Don't do it....

AUTHOR: Jenny W. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Do NOT use ANY of these companies. Call your payday loan providers and have it put into collections, then they will stop debiting your account if you state that you will make MoneyGram payments. That way they can set up payment arrangements with you. Almost all of the payday loan companies ar VERY nice about it, and actually make arrangements with you that you can handle.

PDL Assistance Inc

I am thinking about signing up with this company. I did not close my checking account because that's not an option. I did the other option of stopping payment on the checks. I used storefront payday lenders not internet payday lenders. Before I sign-up for this service I want to make sure it's on the up and up. I don't want to waste my money or my time if it's not worth it. There are other companies out there similar to this, but they only deal with internet payday loans.
