When I purchased my new ford mustang from Planet Ford in May 2006, I traded in my chevrolet equinox. I encountered several problems through the whole signing process, but my real problem did not come until a month after purchasing the vehicle.

The dealership was supposed to pay off my car loan. I just found out that they have not paid it off and now I am 30 days past due on my previous loan and I now have a strike on my credit. This vehicle has not been in my possession for over a month. It is the property of planet ford.

What makes this all worse, is I really feel like they are doing this on purpose. The night I purchased my vehicle, they were unable to get an accurate pay off, so they went by my last bill with HSBC. They put down that my payoff was 18000.00 and rolled in the difference of my payoff and trade in into my current note. I asked the sales man what would happen if my payoff was less or more, and he said if it was less, they would refund me money. If it was more, the dealership would have to eat the cost. Well when they got the payoff, they learned that the payoff was actually 300.00 more.

I was contacted once by the man who did my financing about the mistake. I told him what my salesman said and I never heard anything back until today when my finance company called to tell me that I am 30 days past due and there is no record of planet ford being in possession of this vehicle.

Never again will I purchase a vehicle from planet ford and I strongly encourage everyone else to do the same. Their are several great ford dealerships in Houston that would never give you the treatment I received. It was way too much of a hassle and definitely not worth it.

Good luck with that one. You might want to read the fine print first.

PLANET FORD IS SOMEWHAT OF A RIP OFF

AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2008

I bought my 2003 Ford Focus from them with an extended warrenty. The reason for the warrenty purchase was so I would not have to be stuck paying for any repairs. Well everytime I took the car to them they wanted me to PAY, then the dummies did not provide a loaner car they wanted me to rent from Enterprise s**t office on their lot. I DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT AND WILL NOT RENT A CAR. I bought new from them and should be provided with what ever I ask for.
They lost my business. When I replace the Focus at the end of this year I am buying a Hyundai Tiburon, from a dealership that honers the extended warrenty and provides my free loaner car.
Stay away from the Planet!!

no ripoff

Sir,

I doubt very seriously Planet Ford refused to pay off your trade to rip you off, as it would not be in their interest to do so. They cant sell your trade until they have satisfied the lien. The faster they get it paid off, the less time their investment sits in the back. I noticed your payoff was through HSBC. I would suspect there was a delay in paying off your trade due to finance issues on your new car. Trading in a relatively new Chevy that is financed through HSBC leads me to believe there was plenty of negetive equity involved in your car deal. It may have taken Planet Ford a while to get a bank to actually buy off on the financing of your new car......cauising the trade to be paid a bit late.

The solution to this is simple, though. Call HSBC and tell them what happened. Be prepared to fax your documents showing you traded the car. They shouldnt have any problem removing that negetive entry on your credit report. They arent there to rip you off either. Accurate credit reporting is a priority to them, just like any other bank.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Former customer of Planet Ford and former employee of Randall Reed in Humble, Tx

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 25, 2008

I have bought 4 new vehicles from Planet Ford In Spring, Tx. A 2003 Ford Escape, a 2003 Ford F150, a 2002 F150 extended cab, and a 2003 Ford ZX2. If you go to any car dealership and expect honest dealings your in for a ride. I have bought alot of vehicles and visited alot of dealerships in the Houston area.

I don't care for the other dealerships owned by Randall Reed, I worked at the dealership in Humble and I still wouldn't buy a car from there. As for the dealership in Spring, Tx. I'm sorry you had problems with them. They are by far the most streight forward and honest dealership in Houston. I have no reason to say nice things about them other than the fact I have bought 4 vehicles from them and got 4 good deals and was dealt with honestly.
