Almost two years ago we installed what we believed to be an ADT security system in our home. When we sold our home, we called ADT, informed them we were moving, and asked what we should do. We were told that our account would be placed on relocation and to call and have ADT installed in our new home, which we did after closing on our home. All ADT representatives were told we were relocating customers.

Soon after installation of ADT in our new home, we received a call from a woman stating that she was with ADT Collections Department. She said we owed about $1000  for early cancellation of our ADT contract.  I explained that we merely relocated and still were using/paying for ADT. After spending almost two hours on the phone with numerous ADT personnel, we are now informed that our first system was installed by a licensed ADT installer, not ADT corporate, but a company acting on behalf of ADT under the name of Protect Your Home. We had NO idea that a difference existed, for such was never represented to us.  Additionally, we were informed that the system installed in our new home is now from ADT corporate.

As such, Protect Your Home states they will not honor our relocation waiver and is demanding cancellation fees of approximately $1000. This is totally unethical and misleading.

Beware of Protect Your Home salespersons. Ours never represented to us that he was not an ADT employee and mislead us into signing a contractual agreement under false pretenses. Now we receive daily threatening and harassing phone calls attempting to collect monies fraudently.
