I recantly visited Leisure Bay To inqure about their spas. Rick, the assistant manager assisted me at first, but he seemed to busy with any & every other person who walked thru the door to assest me. Every time I asked a question he either didn't know or wouldn't give me a straight answer.

He told me they "would beat anyones price by $500 guaranted". Well, I've been shopping around so I showed him a price list with size, # of Jets, # of Pumps with Hp rate, features, etc... The story changed Quik. It now was "I had to bring them a brochure". I went to my car and got the brochure then came back to talk to Rick, but he avoided me.

Rick's manager asked if he could assist me. I showed him on my brochure the spa I was intrested in, a 84x84x37 w/2-6.1Hp pumps, 475 gallon tub, 44 jets (w/the expensive spin and pulsating jets), lounge and duel coller massages, with solid mahogony cabnet. He said that they whould beat the price "only on a compatable unit".

The "compatable unit" was a 79x79x31, w/2-5.0Hp pumps, 400 gallon tub, directional jets (the cheaper jet), lounge but no coller massage, and plastic cabinet. Compatable, yea right.

This is were the **** gets deep. I was told "Leisure Bay Was the only Spa company to have a 56in. frame pump and was the biggest and best on the market and is a continues 5Hp" . The truth is their pump is distibuted by Water Way and can be purched online or buy any spa dealer. Also, pump frames determin less than 25% of pump proformane. How ever impelers and RPM make the real power, not to mention the most continues Hp in the industry is 3Hp.

Then I was told "Leisure Bay was rated best next to Hot Springs in consumer reports". Where are thies facts? Who dose thies reports? Could it be Leisure Bay?

It gets more rediculios. I was told "Dupont makes Leisure Bays Acrylic". How is that when Dupont sold out to ICI Acrylic's in 1993? I could belive they bought out Duponts supply and found some way to preseve the acrylic for almost 10yrs. But their is one problem with that theory, Dupont never made Granite Acrylic.

It only gets worse. Next, they told me "The tub was backed with the same NASA eneineered materail used on the space shuttle" and "This materail is made from dimonds". My challenge to Leisure Bay is to apply an acetylen torch to the back of the spa and show us how it it can keep from burning up, just like the space shuttle on reentry.

The lies kept rolling in, to many to list. I've tried to list the most impotant Info. You might be asking your self how do I know what I'm talking about. I was fromerly a production manager in spa manufactoring plants now I'm a part time consultant. But don't take my word for it thiers plenty of info on the internet to educate you before you buy.

Hello,

I was forwarded this case from a friend in Atlanta,GA. He is a former employee of mine. I own CompTec Inc.a composites engineering Co.

After carefully evaluating this case I see a lot of B.S. I,d like some questions answered so we might clear this case up.

1st: This is a site for people to etheir file a report or search a Co. before buying a product. Why is it that on most every site that contains Rec. warehouse, their are costumers that have purchased a product and are so satisfied, they are writing reports on a Better Business Bureau site? This absolutey dose'nt sense.

2nd: Steve if you know so much about Government gidelines you'd know that Microban is not a EPA issue but a DHEC issue, and that all acrylics will be required to contain an antibacterail agent in them by 2005? From the other reports, it seem you have some lieing issuses of your own to deal with.

3rd: Scott I'm not so sure you are not a competitor of a new Co. trying to take the business of a more established Co.? With your knowledge of the busniness you don't have to worry. Rec Warehouse has always been notorious for poor quality. Those who buy their products are usually looking for something for nothing (and you dont want their business) or they buy a more expencive, better unit later.

Now here are some spa factson some spas and spa Co:
1:WATER HEATERS; All water heater will corrode if the chemicals are not maintained proper. Heaters with outside elements take more power to heat, so they are not worth the extra money. Hotsprings heaters have been known to catch fire. Heaters with burpers can cause air locks that can burn up pump even if they have dry run protection. The so called dry fire that burns up elements happens about 1 out of 250,000 cases.

2:Insulation; Closed cell insulation will not retain moister open cell will. this is important since you are dealing with a product that contains water and will be exposed to weather. Rec. warehouse spas do not have any type of insulation value at all. No insulation will be very costly. Sprayed insultion on the tub then on the cabinets is the best. Colder climits will need a heavier insulation.

3:PUMPS; Pump size depends on the customer, but the real issue is jetting. Rec. Warehose (among others such a*s Hydro Spa)only uses direct flow jets. Thou very powerfull they do not offer massage therapy, and will give the allusion of a more powerfull and more expensive system, the truth is it is the cheapest way to go.

This is all the info I have time for today. I will keep you posted on more facts in the future. If anyone wants to despute my remarks, just know this, I amy a 3rd generation composite engineer. My grandfather is one of the 1st fiberglass engineers in the composite industry.

My Two Cents

I've somehow wandered onto this page, and I can't help but share my experience with this company, out of fairness.

My family and I recently purchased a Niagra Grand spa Package at the Recreational Factory Warehouse of Miami. We shopped around for almost an entire month, and chose R.F.W. because of the treatment we recieved from their staff, the full presentation of their products was very pleasing, and informative. Every question I had about Leisure Bays' product line was answered in such a knowledgable manner, I was taken aback by the experience.

I am sure there are many other things about the product my family and I use to relax that I don't know about, but I'm not stupid. The things that are important to me has nothing to do with how the pumps' force is measured, or who they buy their acrylic from. Let's be a little more civil. I'm sure you had a great career in your field scott, but it is quite distasteful to attack a company because of what they call one of their shell layers. Will you next attack NBC for they're "Must see TV"?

The fact of the matter is, the only important things to my family and I is the fact that this company has gone out of it's way to produce a quality product, keep a very well trained and friendly staff and offer it all to me at a great value. When I get into bed at night, and my back doesn't hurt... when my wife no longer rubs the back of her neck... these, in the end are all that are really important, not the fact that I can't take a blowtorch to the interior of my spa. I don't intend to.

Lastly, your attack on a person working for this company is silly. We are all human, and can make mistakes. My thanks to James at the Miami store for his 3 hours of time, finding this spa that was right for us. We plan on owning this spa forever, and a purchase like that shouldn't be made with haste. His patience, knowledge of the product and company he represents, in my opinion are a positive reflection of the entire company.

Thank you for reading my opinion, I'm going for a soak now. Remember, these are people's opinions, no matter how ill-natured they are, you, as a consumer should make your own judgement.

I work in retail. You get a "Scott" once every couple months. A guy who knows everything and doesn't want to learn otherwise.

I myself have a Leisure Bay spa. I did all my researching and shopping and found out that the Leisure Bay unit was the best spa for my money.
Very reasonable pricing, great staff, and a very solid unit. I had 1 problem with one of the jets and the guys at the P.Pines store took care of me.

If You're Going To Bash a Company, Get your facts Straight

I've read this report and many others because it is really entertaining. Reading this one however, is the first one I've wanted to respond to.

First off, every "fact" brought against Leisure Bay acrylic, or any other acrylic for that matter, is written with a perfect market strategy, "Spas without Microban are dangerous."
When the fact is that E.P.A. will not allow Microban Products Company, or any of its customers, ie. spa dealers, to make claims regarding healt benefits, such as protection from germs or disease prevention.

In addition to the E.P.A. the SGS U.S. testing company's test results stated that untreated and treated acrylic sheets "did not show any anti-microbial activity."

I had done this research years ago when microban first was developed for toothbrushes, Scott, In case you were wondering. I'm not in the habit, as is obvious you are not, of falling for marketing nor deceiving tatics of companys.

Consumers reading this pointless tirade against Leisure Bay, in which both partis are wrong,Not purposely, we all make mistakes, which apparently The employees of R.F.W. aren't allowed to do, and Scott obviously never does, God forbid, please take the time to actually look at the products you're buying. Give every store an equal chance and honest chance if you want to shop around. I do.

If someone is rubbing you the wrong way, or you feel the salesperson is incompetant, ask for someone else. There will always be someone in every storein every company that will have the level of expertise that you may require. As for the comment of you don't see Hot Springs, etc... on this report, search for sears, Best Buy, WalMart, Target, HomeDepot, Lowes, or any major company that you patron, thay will all have some unstatisfied customers on this report. You Can't please everyone, But you can try.

Consumer, is this the type of company you want to do business with. A company who wont tell you the truth. A company who would rather try to insult your intelligence with their ignorance & arrogance. A company who repeatedly lies to deceive the customer.



Well tell me Brian who gives this so called "#1 rated spa" rating. What independent testing company is giving Leisure Bay this so called "#1 rating". The truth is Leisure Bay gives this rating. The only time Leisure Bay could ever get rated #1 is if they piad for it. Yes spa company's pay organizations like www.poolandspa.com for a good rating, just like Ford & Chevy pay motortrend magazine.



I'll agree Leisure Bay is #1, the #1 biggest piece of crap on the market. No matter how big of a show room, no matter how bright the lights, no matter how much you shine & polish a terd it's still a terd.



As for me not having a positive attitude and unable to be satisfied. How can you expect me too after you lied to me. What is positive about you lieing? Where is the satisfaction in being lied to? For the 2nd time Leisure Bay got something right, me being pissed!



Brian, I own my own business, I have a wonderful wife, a beuatiful baby, and live happy. Every red blooded Americans dream. You on the other hand work 8 hours a day for a rip-off company who lies. They need weak minded peons like you who they can control and mold into what they want you to be. Are their any collage courses offerd to have the wonderful career you have. Ask anyone who's shoes they had rather walk in, mine or yours. My advice to you is to educate your self before you fall into the fools trap.

I DO HOPE YOU PURCHASED A SPA , THEY REALLY ARE A GREAT RELAXING PRODUCT ... I JUST HOPE YOU PURCHASED FROM SOME ONE ELSE AND NOT US . YOUR NEGATIVE AND PURSISTANT ATTACK ON A NON ISSUE IS A GOOD SIGN YOU HAVE NO LIFE .



MAYBE YOU SHOULD STAY UNDER THE WATER AND THINK A LING TIME A GETTING A MORE POSITIVE ATTITUDE IN LIFE .

Tony, give it up. you,re not fooling anyone. You're just upset you got caught. As for who I work for, I own a small protective coating chain and am a part time consultant in fiberglass technology. Don't feel bad, Leisure Bay isn't the only spa around that sucks. Lowes & Home Depot's spas are just as bad. But their not lieing & deceiving the public.



As a consultant & previous production manager my opinion is that all spa companies have their flaws & down sides. Some companies more than others. Every manufacture claims their product is the best & down grades the others. Even thou I had heard such bad things about Leisure bay I felt it was Industry gossip. It wasn't until I visited Recreatoinal Factory warehouse seen the product & "was lied to" that I felt the way I do. Then I seen the poor reports they have received nationwide. I feel It is my duty to inform the public.



I could give bad reports on most of the top spa companies around with my knowledge of spas & fiberglass. But their not ripping people off. The fact is "Leisure Bay Lies" the company is notorious "for their lies". They won't admit to the truth, even when they get caught in a lie. Consumers, read the other reports they show how Recreational Factory Warehouse lies & deceives the public.



They don't offer any kind of solutions until the consumer files a report against them. Then most of the people don't get a real solution. Recreational Factory Warehouse seems to find the time out of their busy schedule searving their thousands of costumers, to search the net and compose careing heart filled letters. Letters on how willingly & wonderfully they took care of the costumer even even thou it wasn't their fault. Why don't they take care of the costumer in the beginning.



If you buy Recreational Factory Warehouse products they should be responcible for taking care of any problems. But no it was the delivery company or the installers fault. If the product is bought from a company that company is responcible for who they contract as sub labor. This is not the case with Recreational Factory Warehouse. They lure you in with lies, false promises, & deceit. "They tell you what you want to hear to make the sale". After they have your money they don't need you anymore so guess what, "screw you".



So my Question to you Tony, "when are you gona come clean" & "how do you sleep at night knowing you lie & rip off people".

They don't offer any kind of solutions until the consumer files a report against them. Then most of the people don't get a real solution. Recreational Factory Warehouse seems to find the time out of their busy schedule searving their thousands of costumers, to search the net and compose careing heart filled letters. Letters on how willingly & wonderfully they took care of the costumer even even thou it wasn't their fault. Why don't they take care of the costumer in the beginning.



If you buy Recreational Factory Warehouse products they should be responcible for taking care of any problems. But no it was the delivery company or the installers fault. If the product is bought from a company that company is responcible for who they contract as sub labor. This is not the case with Recreational Factory Warehouse. They lure you in with lies, false promises, & deceit. "They tell you what you want to hear to make the sale". After they have your money they don't need you anymore so guess what, "screw you".



So my Question to you Tony, "when are you gona come clean" & "how do you sleep at night knowing you lie & rip off people".

WHILE I NEVER SAID I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT OUR ACRYLIC, I SIMPLY SAID I WAS WRONG ON WHO LEISURE BAY PURCHASED THERE ACRYLIC FROM.

In response to the article the truth. Were do the lies of Leisure Bay end. Asking what type of acrylic is used is a very important question. Recently, a class action lawsuit in Texas was settled in the whirlpool & spa industry. This lawsuit found that whirlpool & spa manufactures were in fact liable for bacterial infections caused when using their products. Reasons being: 1-negligenc due to improper sanitation testing. 2-negligenc due to the failure of discloser of biohazard dangers. 3-negligenc due to fraudulent claim of patented, or engineered designs to prevent sanitation problems.



Ineos a.k.a. ICI Acrylics, in association with Microban Products Co. engineered a helpful solution to this problem. It was the birth of Lucite Microban-antimicrobial protection Acrylic. The only thing Leisure Bay seems to be knowledgeable about is insignificant things such as pump frame sizes. They have clearly admitted they're not knowledgeable of the most important things. It is the manufactures responsibility to educate all their employees & all their distributors on the dangers of their products. The public has a right to know before the sale the danger involved in a product. It is the duty of the vender to disclose this information to all customers or potential customer.



Companies such as Leisure Bay aren't concerned about you or the health and safety of your family. Their concerned about telling you what they think you want to hear, disregarding the truth. Then when they're caught they make up more lies to cover their tails. This is a tactic obviously used as a part of their training program. No matter what Factory recreational warehouse a.k.a. Leisure Bay in what city nationwide the same tactics are used. The evidence is right here on www.ripoffreport.com. No other companies such Hot Springs, Dimention one, Hawkeye, Baja, Hydro spa, Bullfrog, etc have such bad reports.



In my previous letter I clearly stated I 1st brought a detailed price list then went to my car to get the brochure. Leisure Bay is right about 1 thing; we were not comparing apples to apples. I showed them a BMW, they showed me a Buick. The 2 tubs were nowhere in comparison. How ever, the closes comparison on my brochure was quoted $400 less and had more features. Why is this? Could the answer be the obvious Deceit and lies that Leisure Bay is so notorious for? I think so.



Other lies so bluntly called the truth are that Rick told me he would assist me after he finished with the other customer. Just as I stated in my last report he walked away. In fact, after I showed him the competitor's price list he nervously mumbled contradictions to the statements he had previously made, then walked behind the counter and began talking to other employees. They were enough employees to talk to but not enough to assist all the customers swarming through the doors.



As for the exclusive black diamond tri matrix technology. I'll leave that up to NASA, a jeweler, and Keanu Reeves to figure out. I challenge the consumer to look around, research, and call different manufactories & ask them the same questions. The truth will line up & the posers, liars, and frauds will be reviled.

AS FAR AS SCOTT BEING EXPLAINED THAT WE WERE THE ONLY ONE WITH 56 INCH FRAME PUMP, WE QUITE PROUDLY EXPLAINED THAT WE ARE ONE OF THE FEW MANUFACTURES TO CARRY THESE PUMPS, AND THAT THE ONE SCOTT WAS COMPARING DID NOT HAVE THESE PUMPS. OUR PUMPS ARE DISTRIBUTED BY WATER WAY AND LIKE ALL OF OUR PARTS CAN BE PURCHASED NATIONALLY.



AS FOR SCOTT SAYING THAT HE WAS TOLD THAT OUR ACRYLIC WAS MADE OF DUPONT , HE IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I TOLD HIM THIS AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH HE IS CORRECT DUPONT WAS BROUGHT OUT. I WAS WRONG , I'VE BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR FOURTEEN YEARS AND THAT IS WHO WE DID GET OUR ACRYLIC FROM. MOST CUSTOMERS NEVER ASK WHO WE BUY PRODUCTS FROM AND WHEN SCOTT DID, I ANSWERED HONESTLY WITH WHO I REMEMBERED US BUYING FROM. I WAS INCORRECT ABOUT THIS AND THANKS TO SCOTT I NOW HAVE THE CORRECT INFORMATION.



AS FAR AS BEING TOLD"THE TUB WAS BACKED WITH THE SAME NASA ENGINEERED MATERIAL USED ON THE SPACE SHUTTLE"AND"THIS MATERIAL IS MADE FROM DIAMONDS" I QUITE HONESTLY DO NOT KNOW WHERE SCOTT GOT THIS. YES HE WAS EXPLAINED THAT OUR SPAS ARE BACKED WITH LEISURE BAYS EXCLUSIVE BLACK

DIAMOND TRI MATRIX TECHNOLOGY.



WHILE I KNOW THAT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO EARN EVERY ONES BUSINESS WE DO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO DO SO. AS THE STORE MANAGER I TAKE GREAT PRIDE
