We had service done by the Roto Rooter at my rental home in Meridian ID. My tenant had called to have a toilet unclogged and the Boise ID Roto Rooter at this number 208-562-8040 charged them $105.00. This is $55 higher then their competitor Thrifty Rooter charged us just 4 months ago for the same work done at another house.
Roto Rooter spent 15 minutes to run a snake through the toilet and then told my tenant that it will be an additional $80 to pull the toilet and inspect. So basically the problem was not fixed and I feel the technician charged us $105 and did not fix the problem.
We had two toilets unclogged at our home for $50 just a couple of months ago by Thrifty Rooter.
I called the Boise Roto Rooter number and talked to them and they were not willing to give me a better price or a partial refund.
I'm posting this so others don't get ripped off by Roto Rooter plumbers. Call around.

as an ex-employee(thank god), i know for a fact that here in pa, nj and de the employees are responsible for buying their own trucks and their own fuel and as a registered master plumber i was required buy this company to carry my own insurance. so if you are basing your prices, as you stated, off of these expences as well then yes, you are ripping the customer off. the mark-up on this companies material is 2.5 times the cost on anything over $10 and 3 times anything under. as long as you have a clean background check and a clean drivers record this company will likely hire you trained or not. sorry but the truth is the truth (customer beware) of this company. their not what mom and dad used to have !!

105.00 is going rate. maybe thrifty rooter does it cheep because he is a one man band? with no overhead. Is he licenced? more than likley he is not. so when he breaks somthing or floods your house it is on you. were not here to rip you off. what you dont see is. people in the office,ins,rent,fuel,trucks,advertisment. time driving to a rural home. It all costs money. we did not go to school for four years to get our licence for nothing. it is not our crap we do not want to work in it for nothing. It can get costly. trust me we are not getting rich.
