I purchased a sony cameral in june 2010. while i taking pix camera malfunctioned and lcd screen only displayed 'white'. i took camera to sears warranty service. they stated they can repair this under warranty because it was sony and they were authorized. Sears sent it to an unauthorized service ctr (hughes) and they could not fix it. They damaged the camera and voided the warranty and then sent it off to a AUTHORIZED service ctr (precision). Precision informed me that there was 'impact' damage and not covered under warranty.
1) I did not drop, bang, or abuse this camera. when the sears service i assumed that sears would be responsible for the careful handling of my camera. because they sent it out three different places and not SONY and because they sent it to an unauthorized repair who subsequently voided the camera's warranty they should be responsible for the repair and replacement.
2) sears and it's service contractors are neglegent and dishonest. they should not have handled my camera and allowed me to send it to mfg. for reliable and trustworthy repair.
3) Sears refuses to accept responsiblility for neglegent behavoir of it service centers. They should be prohibited from allowing an unauthorized repair organization to tamper with and damage my property
4) I did not authorize Sears to send my property to an unauthorized repair shop. They should be held accountable for the subsequent damage.
