Four year old Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator completely failed...no power to it at all. Cause of failure was a $1 fuse soldered to a $165.00 motherboard. Total cost of repair with labor and trip charge = $354.53.
Sears 'customer solutions' was horrible...the entire process was a nightmare. I did not have an extended warrantly. All the reps try to do is sell you the '$290 one-year smart service agreement'. REALLY??? My homeowners insurance only costs $550 per year!!!!
All I wanted was for Sears to acknowledge that their product was defective, and repair it for free. They refused. It really is a long story, and frankly I'm tired of telling it. I mailed off a letter to Sears CEO, along with the entire correspondence from my Better Business Bureau complaint. We'll see what happens...but I'm not holding my breath.
Please DO NOT give Sears the pleasure of your business...I know I'm not!!!

You should also know that power surges, like the power flashing on and off can blow a fuse and/or damage electronics. IF your warranty says that the warranty will be extended to 4 years if a $1 fuse blows on a $165 circuit board, forget it.
What do you think any other company would have done differently?
At ANY rate, Sears owed you nothing for free. I'll keep shopping there.NO Ripoff here, You are being unreasonable.
NO, I DON'T work for them.

See Sears has no control over the use of your item. As such their LEGAL liability is only one year. This means that after one year both the freezer and the responsability of repairing it falls on you the consumer. To blast Sears 3 years after they could do anything is tacky on your part. So your post should really read like this....
"Sears wont take responsability and fix MY freezer for free because I dont want to pay for it"
Legally Sears had NO liability after the first year of your purchase. You can whine all you like, but you know this to be true. Youre a grown adult and you need to accept the responsability that is YOURS!! Ok so after FOUR years your freezer stopped working. Its called USE!! YOU USED THE FREEZER!! Not Sears, YOU!!
Stop acting like some spoiled child and accept the fact that YOU broke YOUR toy. STOP looking for ANYONE else to pay for YOUR problem. You know Sears cant do it, thats why you are attempting social blackmail to try and force them to do it. Get over it, its called life and sometimes in life we have to do things we dont want to do. Its neither Sears fault OR responsability.
You have been told the term. We are born to die. Well the same would be true for anything created. It is created to be destroyed. The effect of Etropy is pervasive through out our universe. The more you use any single item the greater the chance that you will break it. You have had this freeze almost 1500 days. And every day of use ALWAYS brings it closer to being broken. Now even if Sears would admit the had any responsability, legally they couldnt do anything anyways.
You are wanting Sears to "stand behind" their product. But they can only do that if you had a warrenty with it. Since you do not, then its all on you and you need to stop blaming other people for YOUR issues.
