I was on Facebook and saw an ad for skin care that showed Doctor Oz and several celebrities. A Free Trial was offered for the Skin Logic and Eyetensive Rejuvenation. I clicked on for free trials of the two products. I was charged shipping in the amounts of $4.95 and $5.95. I was out-of-town and the products had arrived when I returned home.
Fortunately, a light bulb went off in my head to google the products after I opened the shipping package for the Skin Logic. There was no name on the jar, no ingredients listed, no directions, and nothing indicating that if I didn't cancel during the 14-day trial that product would automatically be shipped at a cost of $89.95+. The card thanking me for my order was a mess and looked like a toddler had put it together. That's when the warning flags popped up. I didn't even open the packaging for the Eyetensive Rejuvenation before googling these two items. I sure am glad that I did.
I read the rip-off reports. I pulled up their "terms and conditions". I was certainly glad that I reacted quickly because today is day nine of the 14-day period when I could cancel. They say it is a "free trail". It is not. You must pay to ship the products back to them. If it was indeed a "free trial", the cancellation during the trial membership should not force you to pay additional costs to return the two products back to them. These "Gotcha" folks will make money one way or the other off you.
Why would anyone want to use a product by a company that utilizes these types of tactics? I would never put this product on my skin. No listed ingredients. Not evaluated by the FDA. Nothing indicating what products is in the jar. No directions.
I'm glad that I am only out the original $11 that they charged and the shipping costs to return whatever is in those two jars. I was recently ripped off for a much greater sum at a retail location (Tresor Rare) while I was on vacation in Hawaii. Unfortunately, I will recoup none of those costs. This independent retailer utilized many of the same deceitful tactics as Skin Logic. I thought I was safe and that my credit card company would back me up.
Don't count on your credit card company even when the merchant has a notorious reputation of using lies, deceit and undisclosed policies on returns and refunds. I found out the hard way.
Be careful out there. There's always someone using whatever means necessary to separate you from your hard-earned cash. I guess there's no laws against this and they thrive.
