Southern Management Systems Unbelievable collection practices Orlando Florida

My daughter moved into an apartment complex in the Orlando area in late 2007. She used my name as a contact and provided my cell phone number to the rental agency. After 2 months of living there, she could no longer afford her electric bill (she would turn her air cond. setting almost off when she would leave in the morning and would not leave on her computer, lights, etc.) Her electric bills were running between $350 and 400 dollars a month. She contacted the rental company and told them she wanted to move. As a lease break penalty, she had to pay 2 months worth of rent and forego her security deposit, which she did. About 3 months after that (March 2008), she and I began getting phone calls from Southern Management Systems. The 1st gentleman that contacted me seemed nice. He told me he was trying to get in touch with my daughter. I gave her the message. She then proceeded to tell me how they were hounding her for some (unspecified) fees she owed. When she asked them what the fees were for, all they told her was it was from her old apartment. She told them there was no way she owed them anything. They proceeded to berate her, told her she had to ask relatives, friends or her boyfriend to pony this money. And if they couldn't help, maybe she "should think about knocking off a bank". After she said that, I told her not to answer their calls. They continued to call me every week for the next year (she changed her number). Finally, I was tired of receiving calls during work. I wrote them a letter saying I had read about their collection practices on different websites. I stated that I would not deal with them. I wanted a letter from whoever they were representing stating their name and address, phone number and a contact person. I also wanted a detailed list of what she owed and why. Haven't heard from them or the rental company. The last person contacting me fron Southern Management and leaving voice messages was Willie Garza. Anyone in the same situation needs to do the exact same thing. Demand to know what, why, to who and how much. Shut them up real fast.
