This collection agency has made threatening phone calls to both me and my in laws regarding a payday loan that is 6 YEARS old. I was told that I was going to be served, brought to court, put in jail. They told me that I was being sued for $4000 (the original debt was $270) and I would be arrested that day if I didn't pay. They called my inlaws home and told them I was going to jail for this if they didn't make me call them. They claimed that they were going to take everything I own if i didn't pay them immediately.
I know the that this debt will be removed from my credit report in 1 year. I also know that they cannot take me to court. This company needs to be stopped. They are breaking the law.

You cannot be arrested/put in jail for a debt. That is illegal. Report them for violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act to the appropriate agency. I am sure others will give you other helpful information. Good luck and fight back!
