First of all, the company does seem legitimate. They did do partially as was advertised. They charged $375 and made an ad for me - I checked it, it was real. However, they did not follow up to ask about changes that I would like to make to the ad as the month went by, and I never received one phone call from an interested person(which was implied at the time of my payment - there being many interested individuals). True, you could say, that calls depend on the value of the car and whether there is interest at the price asked. Well, then you should consider this:
When I was called, I agreed to have the ad made after Terrence told me of the statistics of car sales they make. I won't repeat them here because they may not be accurate. The point is, he was very hopeful of selling my car within the month. In fact, he stated 'we're going to be moving this thing this weekend'. A month later - not a single call.
The only reason I paid them was to see if they really had as good of results as their salesman Terrence advertised so that I would know whether to ignore sales persons with these services in the future. I am not hard up to sell my car or hurting for money, but I wanted to know whether these services which cost from $350 - $500 each, could be trusted.
Much more interest was implied by their sales persons than I ever received from customers after paying them.
He told me that with the 4th of July event they were having, he could get me $1000 more than I was asking, which was within the right range of asking prices of similar cars on the internet. I have had no follow up calls to talk with me about what they are doing to 'market' my vehicle for me, and not a single call to ask about changing my ad to make it more attractive to buyers (even with a $70 AutoTrader ad they do that).
So the point is that:
they build up hopes to the point that you feel like an idiot for saying no to their service.
I am sure they try to do a good job, but their outlook on success for individual people trying to sell their cars IS exaggerated.
I've had better luck on craigslist.org doing it myself, and that is where I will stay.
