I was traveling with my daughter , purchased tickets thru Spirit Airlines, not realizing how "bare" their fare really was. So to have the tickets end up at least somewhat affordale, I joined their $9 Fare club, which cost $59.95 for a year, but it made your checked in and carryon luggage fees a little cheaper. I never knew it renews itself every year. No bill, no email....nothing just a charge on my charge card this year for a Fare club that I used over a year ago ,one time , and dont plan on using ever again, because I would never fly  with them again. I called to cancel when I received the bill, apparently you cant cancel once the transaction has gone thru, was told they dont give refunds...its their "policy '. And your supposed to cancel online. Well I've looked and looked and to this day can't find a spot to cancel their membership anywhere on line. You wait for hours to get thru to someone " live " to speak with and then you get hung up on or tranferred. Finally thru involment of my credit card company, they got thru , we were able to cancel the membership, but no refund even though I notified them the first time right after I was billed that I don't want it, they do not issue refunds. So now I'm still  being billed for 69.95 that I never wanted continue for this year. Can they really keep doing this to people, taking their money if they dont want to continue a membership?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

It is easy to cancel membership

AUTHOR: agus - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 31, 2016

All you have to do is log into your account on spirit.com.  go to my account.  about half way down the page it shows "my $9 fare membership".  Under "paid membership type" there are the words cancel membership.  it will not refund a previous purchase but will cancel the recurring subscription.

As a side note, i recently purchased tickets on spirit.com and signed up for the $9 fare club and it was quite clear that it was an auto renewing program unless cancelled.
