Doin the math

It appears there are at least 4 individuals constantly voting certain posters' postings as unhelpful.
And I bet I know who the 4 are. Shall I venture a guess?
1: The
2: Outlaw
3: Josey
4: Wales

Go ahead TOJW! Make my day!

To the OP, lesson learned. Take the iPod with you in a carry-on bag next time. Civilization is no longer on a high enough level to chance stowing such in checked luggage.

Sadly there is noting you can do about it now, but you can help yourself in the future.

EVERY airline has in it's Contract of Carriage(basically the terms of travel) that they are not responsible for anything missing from your luggage.  They also limit their liability to damage/missing luggage to about $250(this may vary by airline but not by much).  So even if you had a $100,000 piece of art in your bag and the bag came up missing they would only be required to pay you $250.  This is why every airline recommends that you never put anything valuable in your checked-bag including small electronics.

If in fact it was taken, you can't even be 100% sure who did it.  As may times the luggage handlers may work for the airline, they may be contractors with another company or they may work for the airport.  You also have to remember that not only baggage handlers will handle your bag but so will TSA who are government employees.  If you ever travel Internationally you also have Customs agents as well.

But one has to really wonder why you just didn't take your iPod on with you?
