A year or so ago I purchased a ticket from Spirit airlines for my best friend, using my bank debit card online. A few months after that, Spirit charged my bank account $39.95 for a club membership that I knew nothing about. I disputed the charges and called Spirit. Spirit refunded my money and told me the sitation was taken care of.

ANOTHER year goes by and I see that for some reason my bank account has overdrafts that shouldnt have happened. I go to the bank to find out that on July 28th 2008, I was once again charged for this "club membership" from Spirit Airlines. I call to get help and I am automatically sent to India, I can barely understand the person I am talking to, and I am told they can not help me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told he wouldnt speak to me because there was nothing he could do.

I emailed Spirit and asked for help resolving the situation. I contacted the Better Business Buero and filed a complaint. I also filed a dispute with my bank for Spirits fradulant charges. Spirit Air responds to my email and says they will not refund my money. I reply to Spirit and tell them i filed a complaint with the BBB. On August 6th I was finally refunded the $39.95. But I feel they owe me more than that. (after 2 attempts Spirit has still not responded to the BBB).

my desired outcome of this situation would be a refund of $187.95 (their charge plus the money they caused to overdreft and the $8.00 a day fee that my account acrued). I also believe I am intitled to restitution of my hardships in this instance. I think that Spirit should take this into consideration because, I sat here unable to purchase grocerys for my family and was not be able to make the deadline for some of my bills because of their assurance last year that I would never be charged again for this membership.

I had to scrape together money by rolling pennies for my family, While Spirit had full use and accses to my money to fuel their planes, pay their employees and make more money. I find that praying on poor families in the horrific economy is underhanded business practice. I am sure that many people could afford this but I am a single parent on a limited income with social security and I am disabled so every penny counts. I apprecate all of the help that you can give to me and any other person who has been effected by this company.
