On January 14, 2015 I used Spokeo to try to locate my aunt. There was a trial price of .95 cents and you had to cancel to avoid further charges. I now find out that Spokeo has been withdrawing $19.95 a month from my account the 22nd of every month--starting January 22nd and continuing through May 22nd. In addition, they have also been withdrawing $18.95 from the same account the 15th of every month beginning on Februay 15th through May 15th.

Their service did NOT help me in anyway, shape or form. I found my aunt through my uncle's obituary. I know that I cancelled with them. When I called the girl at their call center said she would refund $38.90--May's total of their illegal withdrawals.

#1 UPDATE Employee ..inside information

Spokeo $0.95 Trial

AUTHOR: Spokeo - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, June 01, 2015

I'm sorry for any misunderstandingand certainly wish to help resolve the issue. It appears you selected our Single Search with Premium Trial plan, which provided you with an initial $0.95 Single Record as well as additional free Premium access for 7 days. As long as the trial is cancelled within 7 days, the account does not continue. Because your trial was not disabled within 7 days, a $19.95 1-month recurring subscription fee began to charge. Accounts of this type automatically renew if left active to prevent any service interruption. We try to make this very clear by detailing this on our payment page, including it in the disclaimer which has to be agreed to before the purchase is processed. In addition, the information is included in the confirmation receipt sent immediately after payment, as well as in our Terms of Use. I do apologize again if this was unclear in any way.

Additionally, the charges of $18.95 you are refering to are for the Spokeo Friends Feature. The Spokeo Friends feature aggregates data from multiple social media products allowing users to view their friends’ latest news, posts, pictures, and more in one convenient place. Currently, we are offering a promotion for 30-days free to customers. This trial is free to try for 30 days, but if left active past the expiration, is priced at a monthly fee. I would be more than happy to disable your Spokeo Friends feature. Please kindly contact a member of our Customer care team at CustomerCare@spokeo.com or by calling 1-888-906-0850 so that we can assist you further.

Sincerely,

Spokeo
