My grandson, who is 17 years old, contacted autotrader.com, they had listed a Nissan 350Z. VIN#JN1AZ34E63T008059 E-MAIL AT marrye_mar@yahoo.com
Owner 56466608:AutoTrader.com, car id.=177347328.

We got the $ together and sent it to Marion Marie, Riecna 4 Street, Bratislava, Slovakia, 811 02. He said he was there to care for his ill son and would not be able to return to N.Y and therefore had to get rid of the car. We used Western Union, we have all the receipts, e-mails with directions.

This Square Trade claimed to be the go-between and would guarantee the payment be returned if not satisfied.

Last contact was June 16, I have written several time to both addresses and have received nothing

His name would have given me a heads up!

The name Bratislava Slovakia would have made me run the other way. If you can't meet the seller face to face and if you can't look at the item you are wanting to buy, I say FORGET IT. Too many people want good deals and they are willing to turn their brain off and part with their money way TOO FAST!

God only knows how many scammers hide behind good ole Ebay.

Square Trade not actually involved

AUTHOR: Janine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 04, 2005

Hello,

Your money is long gone. Unfortunately, the Square Trade correspondence was not real and was actually sent by the thief. This is a common scam online and an ongoing problem.

1. Usually involves a " too good to be true price"
2. Some phony escrow or fake emails from a real escrow company ( also mediation companies ).
3. Of course, they always want you to Western Union money to a foreign country.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Let me guess. They sold it for $10,000 or less. So, you thought it was a great deal.

Some deal, huh?

After throwing away that kind of money, you'll be lucky to afford a 280Z now.

There is only one solution here. Stay the hell off the internet. People never learn.

I mean, it's OK to go on and read stuff, or look at pictures. I even download tons of stuff.

But, never, not in a million years, would I ever think of putting a bank account or credit number on there.

And, sending money to someone that I met online? Sure, as soon as hell freezes over, thaws out, freezes over a second time, and then turns into a giant skating rink.

Oh, and I'd need to hit the lottery too.

That way, it wouldn't matter because I'd have the money to throw away.

Western Union? Untraceable. Besides, it went to a mail drop anyway. It's gone.

Square trade? That's an ebay thing, right? That's less than nothing.

I can't see any possible way to get your money back. It's gone. All you and others can do is learn never to do something like this.

Besides, why would a kid who just got a license need that car anyway? Buy him a 76 Buick. That way, when he bends a fender or a bumper, you can laugh it off.
