The All-in-One printer could easily have been purchased elsewhere. The way I decided was to ask questions prior to purchasing the printer. I asked if they had an extended warranty. He told me told me that he had and asked me how many years I wanted. I asked if I would be able to extend it again later. He told me that I would. So I chose to purchase 2 years. I thought that it was a true extended extended warranty. If I had known that it wasn't a true extended warranty, I would have purchased it at another store, such as Radio Shack.

They handed me my receipt with a pamphlet explaining
the plan, but it was stapled to the back of their receipt, which completely obscurred the pamphlet.
The only way I would be able to change my mind, at this point, was to ask for a refund, if I known. I thought that the pamphlet was an advertisement for more products, so I filed the receipt with the pamphlet. I have told my friends not to buy from Staples, especially, if they plan on buying electronics. HP pays for Shipping and handling, so there is no need for Staples, Inc. to provide that service. in their warranty. The salesman never told me that I would have to register the warranty prior to it becoming effective. They refuse to repair the printer, they sent me a 25 dollar certificate instead.

Jack,

Depending on which cartridge you got, there might be a recourse.

If you bought an HP cartidge, you might be SOL.

If you used a Staples cartridge, try calling the product support hotline on the box. I can't say yes or no on what they would do, but you might get some recourse that way.

I ask you to try a different Staples store in the Brooklyn. I can tell you that sometimes the managers of the stores push the TSPPs too much. Make sure they let you know that it's a date of purchase plan, and you can renew it through AON (the number is listed in the plan booklet) within 30 days of the expiration.

I was told that the TSPP had expired. Of course, I have the printer. I bought it on 10/11/03, and took it home the same day. It worked fine until I used the cartridge that seemed to cause the circuits to malfunction. I even got a $25 certificate.

Did you call?

I'm just wondering.. did you call Federal (that's the company who handles our TSPPs)? They could have finished the registeration then.

When did you actually get the printer, and did you actually pay for the plan? Or change your mind at the register?
