I had my brake pads replace, at the local Sullivan tire, no other work was done. I was charged 100.00 hour (300.00 total) for labor! The total invoice was 465.00, I have requested for an explanation as to why I was charged this amount for labor, my requests have been ignored. These guys are a bunch of crooks, they know they ripped me off, this is why they will not explain the labor charge.

You are correct I should have checked around and compared the cost, but I did not and it cost me. I though Sullivan tire was a fair and honest business, well I was wrong, and I want to make sure others are not ripped off. As for your comment about me being dumb, feel free to write what you want about me, your opinion is worthless and useless.

Who tells somebody to fix there car without asking how much it is going to cost? Maybe next time you buy something you will ask how much it costs, and if the price is high you will shop around. I think you might be dumb.

As we all can read Luke from Sullivan Tire sent a note requesting I contact him to discuss the problem. I sent him an E-mail and waited for a week for a response. I felt this was ample time to respond to an e-mail. I did not receive a response ( I am not surprised) my guess he was just trying to show all who read the rip-off report how wonderful Sullivan tire is, they are a rip-off!
As you can see another rip-off report was filed on Aug 20 for the Newington NH location, this is about 15 miles away from the Stratham NH location. I have made three attempts for an explanation on the charges, at the location where the work was done, an e-mail to corporate headquarters and now a reply to an employee who asked me to contact him, not one single response!
This has to make you think what kind of customer service they have, to go along with the high labor charges, and with the other rip-off reports posted, you may want to look into other options for auto repair.

You are the same Robert that had the shop in Florida? (of course there could be many lol) I have been confused because I have seen posts from Robert in Florida and Robert in MD lately and didn't know if you had moved, or what. The way you write your posts sounds the same... but I didn't know.
Owning a repair shop is hard at least in Ca and I heard that Florida is just as bad! Too many idiots that make it impossible to run an honest shop and still pay your bills.

You don't think the type of vehicle makes a difference in labor pricing, nor do you think you should have to pay what that labor guide says you should.
You also think the shop should not be charging $100 per hour. You base that opinion on what? Labor rates are based on what the shop needs to operate at a profit. The competence of the mechanics is also used in setting this rate. This is why CHEAP shops hire CHEAP mechs, while GOOD shops hire GOOD mechs. Did you notice how CHEAP and GOOD are not equal?
And finally, you believe the shop should charge less, if the job takes less time than the book quotes. Uh huh. I'll again assume you would have no problem paying more if the job takes longer than the labor guide states. Sure.
I had to deal with geniuses like you every day in Florida. Take a guess why I closed that shop and headed to Maryland? Can I rightly assume you are a "s****.>

Get A clue!! Who cares what make or model the vehicle is, or how long it would take to do the job, the bottom line is they charged 100.00 hour for labor. I know this is a rip-off. I want others to know also. I find it funny that you would respond to this post living in MD, Sullivan tire is located in MA, NH, ME and RI. I know the actual time they worked on my vehicle was less than 3 hours, as I dropped it off at 8am, and was called at 11am. I doubt that every minute the vehicle was w/them was being worked on. The labor charge was more than 100.00 hour!

Without knowing what the vehicle is, there is no way to determine what the labor time should be. A "pad slap" takes an hour, by the book. If you have a Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and need the rotors turned, then get ready for about 5 hours...by the book.
All vehicles are different. Frozen calipers increase the labor. Pressed on rotors increase the labor.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why people post a report without giving ANY truly neccessary information about the vehicle. Saying you were ripped off does not make it true.

I did check with other mechanics/dealership after the work was done, and showed them the invoice. They all agreed the time/labor charges were excessive for that type of repair. If Sullivan tire does charge 100.00 for labor, fine I just want to make sure other consumers know this, and they can have the same work done at a fair cost. I doubt they actually worked on my vehicle for 3 hours, I dropped it off at 8am, and picked it up at 11am when they called me.

Why 3 hours?

Back in my younger (and broke) days I often changed the brake pads on 2 wheels of my car in about an hour.
I'd like to know why it took them 3.
If memory serves, most car dealers use a type of "job standard" that indicates how long a standard job takes and use this standard for determining how much labor to charge for the job. Perhaps you could go to a dealer and ask what the job standard for changing brake pads is - that would give you an idea if they "slow leaked" the job or not.
$100 p/hr seems pricey as most of the dealers around here charge between $65 - $75 p/hr.

And say you were charged $100 per hour because that's what they charge for labor.
DUH!!!!
