Sullivan Tire Quoted cost for repairs to car at $700-$800, more if breakline broke, additional issues not real. Repaired elsewhere for $110 Ripoff Scarborough Maine

On October 30th, I went to Sullivan tire to get an estimate for my car. I have Anti-Lock breaks and something was wrong with them. There are only a few places that repair issues with ABS if that is the problem, my usual machanic.

When I arrived that afternoon - 230pm, I spoke with the manager. A young man, 19/20ish, came by and heard part of the conversation - he was poppin through for something else. He quickly said, its probably a break leak...without even looking at it.

I left and at 530pm, I got a call from Sullivan Tire. The same kid tried to tell me all this stuff wrong with the car. I know a little something about cars and I couldnt understand a word he was saying....a lot of double talk. He also quoted me $700 to $800 dollars in repairs and it would be more if the breakline broke while making the other repairs on the car.

My car was not acting up that bad and I felt like it was all bunk. My car was not in bad shape - if it were that much, I would have more issues with the car.

I asked to speak to the manager and told them to contact my father and discuss it with him. My father then called me and told me to take it to my usual machanic - since it's not an ABS issue.

We reclaimed my car at 6pm that same nite and drove it to Standish. I got my car back on Nov 2, 2006 and it was repaired at Mobil in Standish, Maine for $110.04 including labor and parts. Some of the problems that Sullivan discussed with my father and I were phantom.

The price difference is what astounded me. $600-700+ difference is outragious! Unfortunately, I was too angry to remember to get a written quote from Sullivan Tire before taking my car.
