My family and I went to Six Flags, Great adventure in Jackson, NJ in August and at the entrance, we were asked to complete some forms for a chance to win a free vavation. We jumped at the chance thinking that it would be great to get a free vacation and that the vacations were being offered through a third party affiliate of Six Flags. A few weeks later, I received a call to say that I won the free vacation and that to claim it, I would have to attend some kind of session in Parsippanny, NJ. I figured that a free vacation was worth the time so I went with my husband and son.

When we arrived, we were directed to a conference room few other couples and we were given a sales pitch for membership into a travel discount program where we would get hotel rooms in many locations for $250 a week/ $500 for a 1 week stay. There were very persuasive. We decided to try the program and we thought we would cancel if we couldn't benefit from it. They asked us to pay $400 up front for membership and then $92 per month for a year, then $99 per year after. We were also told that we should try to schedule the free vacation soon.

When we decided to do the vacation, they told us that we would have to pay $99 each for "taxes". We would get a "free" round trip flight and 2 nights stay for 2.  Unfortunately, our work schedules were not open and it was difficult to find time for a trip. Also, after doing research, we learned that, if we decided to take a vacation, we could find a hotel that would cost us just a small bit more than the "discounted" price that sundance offered.

I decided to cancel knowing that we would not be taking many vacations over the next year. They told us that we could not cancel and that it would affect my credit if I stopped making payments. Even after explaining that I don't plan to take any vacations, they told us that we were bound by a contract. Nothing I saw indicated that I would be trapped into this agreement without even using the product.

I don't understand what the implications would be if I stopped paying so I have continued. I am having financial difficulties and cannot afford to pay for something I am not using. We're talking about almost $1600 for a year. That could have paid for a great vacation for my husband and I which we will not be able to afford now.

It is very wrong that these companies are able to get away with these practices.
