On July 13, 2005, I ordered a sand filter (TR-50) and 2" side valve online from Swimming Pools Etc. The two packages were left on my front porch by UPS a week later. I hired someone to come out to install it. After we removed the old filter and opened up the sand filter box, we found out that the tank closure, o-ring, air relief valve, gauge, and any paper work associated with the sand filter was missing (probably all in the same bag).

I then called Swimming Pools Etc. and they said they couldn't do anything about it and I had to email support. Since I couldn't wait another week to resolve this and didn't want to pay the pool guy again to come out and finish installing the filter, I went to a pool store and purchased these missing parts (another $52.05).

I feel they need to either credit me back the amount I spent on parts that I already paid for or send me the missing parts. I conveyed this to their "support" multiple times and have not even had an acknowledgement. When I call, they tell me I have to go thru support. This is a big run-around and I didn't get what I paid for.

Having just read the Rip-off Report on this company, it seems I am not the only one getting the run-around.

JEFF YURTIN - (SWIMMINGPOOLSETC.) IS A DIME STORE HOOD

AUTHOR: Randall - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 06, 2005

Robert-

I know this dirt-bag Jeff Yurtin; If it were not for the Internet he would still be cleaning carpets. I have been to his so-called business operation many of times.

His web site leads customers to believe it is some state-of-the-art, top-notch pool company he runs. The way Jeff lies about it one would think their dealing with a billion dollar out-fit.

This is just Jeff being Jiff, a misleading liar.

He has had the luxry of doing business with people that have know way of knowing what type of business their really dealing with untill it's to late.

That's the only reason he is still up and running.

Swimmingpoolsetc is basicly an empty office building with four small rooms a couple of computers, phones and a half empty warehouse with limited product, mostly pool cleaners he bought over in China.

He does have a quality hacksaw for some drunk he hires to cut down the shafts on the golf clubs he advertises. Look at golfclubsetc.com he leads customers to believe he has a professional golf smith building custom clubs.

He has NO customer support, hence, no return phone call, what he does have is a revolving door of 2 maybe 3 employees (due to the way he treats people) that have no training what's so ever.

Jeff strolls in around 11 and could care less about customer service, it is all about the money with Jeff Yurtin, once that credit card hits his account your satisfaction means jack to him.

The only reason Jeff is being so forthcoming in resolving your situation is due to you posting this complaint.

The heat he has been getting recently on this site for his pathetic business dealings is finaly catching up to him.

If it were not for that, your situation would have gone un-resolved like hundreds of others.

He put a lot of stupidity into his return policy. Jeff is so cheap he wrote it himself.

It is not legal or binding, meaning his policy is s**t, and he knows it. Jeff is so stupid, even if an attorney wrote that policy it does not matter.

VISA/MC rules state, ANY purchase not having an original signature from the cardholder on the original receipt, cannot be held liable to store policy concerning returns if the customer is not happy with the product, Period.

Visa/MC will look into the situation and side with the consumer 95% of the time. American Express will not even here the merchants side, the cardholder is automatically refunded their money. If they have a restocking fee, don't do business with them.

It sucks for the honest merchants, but you have businesses like Jeff that balance out the scales.

If Jeff does not send you the money, you have 120 days to submit a charge-back; Jeff will also receive an automatic $25 fee from his processor on all and any charge-backs.

This is why he has his false, non-binding return policy posted, it burns Jeffs a*s every time a consumer does this to him.

If I were you, I would spread the word, stear clear of this bottom feader. He is one of the reasons Internet purchases have been declining the last couple of years.

Good Luck,

Swimming Pools Etc. Incomplete order non-responsive

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 21, 2005

First, if I had bought a car at a dealership, I would have been able to actually talk to someone about my problem versus having to send emails that never get answered.

Second, I had a problem that needed to get fixed that day and I took care of it by going out and buying parts that I already paid for. I wouldn't have had to buy parts if the shipment had been inspected before it was shipped to me.

So one has to ask, what difference does pricing make if one doesn't get what they paid for.

YES, I would like you to ship me the replacement parts.

We can send out any parts for your filter....

AUTHOR: Jeff - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 19, 2005

Robert,
If you ordered or bought a car from a dealership and had a warranty problem, would you take the car back to the dealership, or would you fix it on your own? Mark our manager has informed me that he said he could send out replacement parts free of charge. The only problem is you had already bought the parts on your own. We do not reimburse at the retail rate of your filter parts. Matter of fact we state that your filter is under warranty but you will have to pay for shipping of all warranted parts. The reason you bought the filter from us and not from the parts store is our pricing. We can still send out the replacement parts for FREE and you can return them to the place you bought your parts. If this is acceptable to you please reply asap. We will then arrange for the parts to be sent to you free of charge.

Thanks
SPE.

Swimming Pools Etc. Incomplete order non-responsive

My order number is 52863.

I thought it was delivered by UPS, it was actually FedEx.

Regarding your inspection policy, if no one is home when the package is delivered, how is one supposed to inspect it when they leave it on the front porch. Your policy would only work if you required a signature for delivery.

The box that the filter came in was taped shut and undamaged. The parts just weren't there. There again, how would someone know what parts are supposed to be in the box when there is no parts list in the box.

I did email your support dept., three times over a 10 day period with no response or even an acknowledgement that you received my emails. I also called three times with no luck getting any help.

Again, these were the part missing: tank closure, o-ring, air relief valve, gauge, and any paper work associated with the sand filter.

You can get my address and email from the order number above.

And you are right, these are serious claims. When customers can't get any response by email (your only support) and the sales support can't help on the phone, one has to take serious actions.

We need some things from you to help you.

AUTHOR: Jeff - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 13, 2005

Robert what is your order number? We do not ship with UPS ever and you state below UPS delivered the product. Also we do have on our site that the customer must inspect the product upon delivery so if there is damage it can be refused or noted at the time of delivery for refund. Also please confirm that you did email our support dept. We respond generally the same day or next day. If you had a problem we generally warranty all products and have free shipping as well on the parts. Especially all Eliminator filters but you chose to order another type of filter that we cannot get as fast of response from a Pentair product, if you did order from us. Please provide your order number and your email request and we will look into getting you new parts that you can return to your pool dealer for a refund if you have the receipt and if you ordered from us. You are making serious claims, now its time to respond with information that I am asking for.

Thanks,
Jeff Yurtin
