I have to agree with other reports submitted. Corporate Sylvan needs to pay attention to tutors suggestions about their system. Firstly, no one st their offices are qualified to assess or diagnose learning disabilities, yet a fair amount of the kids are labeled as such. Secondly - many of the sylvan materials have glaring computer glitches . For example the vocabulary word 'dusk' was incorrectly defined as meaning sunrise. When tutors point out any errors in sylvan material, it gets brushed off. Third- students are given very little attention, the iPad has become the tutor. Sylvan corporate is very difficult to contact.

The locations are franchises treated very much like a retail store. Female employees are encouraged to dress provocatively to bring in customers, who are viewed as sort of disposable cash cows. I noticed their reading materials have themes that are peculiar to sylvan and are not part of any recognized curriculum. The students then learn a kind of 'sylvan speak' which does not carry over into other venues. Their methods of counting circles repeatedly is strange, there are kids who repeat lessons continuously to get a 100%, grade, parents feel their children must get 100% on each lesson. There is no partial credit system for complex mathematical problems. I wish there was a way to correct some of this, but the franchises are not open.
