Tanner Transmission Sandy, UT Fraudulant Transmission Diagnosis - DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! Sandy, Utah

I took my vehicle to Tanner Transmission in Sandy, UT to get the free diagnostic test done because it was delaying when shifting from reverse into drive. They had my car for about 4 hours. When I called them back to find out what they found, I was told their was metal in the pan and it would definitely require some type of rebuild to repair.

I was told they would need to get into it further before they could tell me the extent of the damage and what the repair would cost. This sounded fishy to me, so I told them to put it back together and I would take it to my mechanic to see of it would be worth doing the repairs, since the vehicle is 15 years old.

I picked up the car later that day and took it to my mechanic. He soon called me back and said Tanner never even dropped the pan, and in fact, they had sheered off two bolts in the process of even attempting to get the pan off!

My mechanic explained that it was simply low on fluid, and it did have a leak in a cooling hose. I had him drain and refill the transmission fluid and replace the leaky hose, and it runs perfectly fine. When he dropped the pan to perform the service, there was no metal whatsoever in the pan!

It cost me $80 in labor to replace one of the two bolts that Tanner Transmission had sheered off. I decided not to replace the other bolt because of the cost - thanks Tanner! Do not take your car here unless you want to be completely ripped off! If you do make the mistake of going to Tanner, you better be sure to get a second opinion on any "diagnosis!"
