Purchased a Target "no hassles, convenient product replacement plan" for a DSI XL that cost an $17.00. Plan states it begins on date of purchase (Sept. 2010) and continues for 2 years. 11 months later the screen is not working correctly. Target replacement plan referred me to nintendo since there is a manufactures warranty still in effect. They stated that the fine print says it is the manufacture's responsiblity during the manufacturer's warranty period. However, that is not how I understand the "no hassles, convenient plan" that I purchased from Target. The plan does not say anywhere that a consumer will first go to the manufacturer directly during their warranty period. It does not say Target's extended plan begin after the manufacturer's warranty expires. This is a Hassle and is not what the warranty fine print says. Target is completely misleading their customers. The plan should clearly state that they do not cover anything until the manufacturer's warranty is expired. The truth is they are selling a one year extended plan beyond the manufacturer's plan. That you will be dealing with the manufacturer directly and that there is no hassle free replacement during the manufacturer's warranty. This is False Advertisment.

Target's wording is to encourage you to feel safe, in buying the plan, its about making money for the insurance company, its plain and simple, an insurance coverage, beyond mfrs warranty, there policy is written clear enough to see half-way across the room., when you return something, or you see it every time you buy something.
Just like in newspapers, its written to get your attention, everyone has an opinion about what it wrote, "no hassle warranty" therefore if you took them to court, someone better be sure they did not read it the wrong way, because the judge will say, "if its not written there, their complaint is valid." If they wrote something, and can be understood, .the judge will point out where its written.
Maybe its best to have target explain it, then sign a form, stating you understand it, or if they did not, hold Target liable for selling something without explaining fully, yet plain and simple, its what anyone thinks it is, there policy is there to be seen or not to be seen - 90 Return policy, then Mfr warranty, next purchased warranty, you see it written every time you buy something there.
Many bait and switch tactics, can happen, by seller or customer, somewhere, for example: "no hassle warranty" or "No risk" or "pay nothing for 60 days" "its free" yet you use your credit card to buy it, big surprise, or customer misunderstands the subject, the policy.
How many times do people try to get satisfaction from their warranty, yet never really fix it, time and time again, you go somewhere, or send it somewhere, to be fixed, yet never really is fixed, how can that be truly "no hassle warranty". At one electronic store they gave you a new one off the shelf, if it had to be repaired more than 2 times. Would be nice if it was cars, they sometimes never solve the problem with the car.

+1.............. I believe Target corporate got bamboozled into carrying extended plans solely because "others" do. The mfr warranty is clearly masked. The fact that products are deferred to the mfr under their warranty and the brochure says "begins date of purchase..............no hassles..........." is deception and misrepresentation of what the plan does or doesn't do.
Send a copy of this to the VP ot Stores of Target. Copy your state's Attorney General. This is the type of stuff that Class Actions are made from.

Its true if the papers or their explanation are not clear enough, what good is it if it gives someone the wrong idea. Excuse me for being helpful about what I think must be written about it, I think you misinterpreted it, I think its about the same thing others have, you have 90 days to return it. Its warranted for one year, therefore 9 months left, yet you paid $17 dollar to extend it for another year. Its like trying to login to your computer and using the wrong password, if you think its ok to get in with the wrong password what good is the security, when the computer is working right and will allow with the right password.
Best thing to do is find where to get it repaired or where to ship it and it will come back repaired or you have someone cheating you out of what they promised you. Like trying to get my car fixed they never did.
