Tidewater is a rip off. They charge fees and interest that the reps can not explain. I had to make over $1,000 in repairs all they could say is when you making your payment. They gave your a grace period to make your payment but still charge late fee. They do nto know to tell how your intrest rate calculated.

Tidewater Finance Should be Avoided at all Cost

Tidewater Finance has been sending me letters offering vehicle financing. I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last month, due to medical debts from surgery after a long term illness. Obviously, they received info on my bankruptcy filing and are assuming I need a vehicle to finance.
Out of curiosity, I did some internet research about this company and read several horror stories about the way they choose to do business. I'm happy consumers have shared their stories. Who's running this company? The mafia? The Federal Trade Commission should look at this company more carefully.
I have a vehicle, that I'm surrendering in my bankruptcy, but I also have a second vehicle. It's 10 years old, but it runs. I'm going to drive for at least the next year, and save the amount of money I would have paid in car payments, and use as a downpayment on a new car, when my credit score gets better.
Now back to Tidewater Finance. Out of curiosity, I called the number listed on the the letter I received. Right from the start, they were unprofesssional. It sounded like high school students were talking (in the background). The customer service rep asked a series of questions that didn't make sense. Although I hadn't subbmitted an application, they wanted me to provide numerous telephone numbers of where I can be contacted, including telephone numbers of others.
As I was speaking with the Tidewater employee, I overheard the craziest conversations going on in the background. Employees laughing, joking, and speaking negatively. Yet they want (and expect) me to provide them my business?
No way! I'm running to the hills.

The interest rate is noted on your copy of the signed contract.
"My bill said if it pay after the 26th is 19.77 late charge."
Please scan and post that bill for us to see. Be sure to conceal your personal info before posting. Thanks.

Yes I read the contract and the late fees. Whats said in the contract and what is charged is two different things. If you can not explain why the two are different then it's a rip off. My bill said if it pay after the 26th is 19.77 late charge. I paid on 26th why say I have 50.00 past due charge. You do the math.

You say you don't know about the late fees and apparently don't even know your interest rate. Did you even, for one second, read the contract, terms and conditions therein you were obligating yourself to BEFORE you signed it? Whether or not you need to make repairs, the payments are still due.
