I purchased a Toshiba Laptop in February and immediately sent off for the advertised $50 dollar rebate. I followed the instructions to a T as I know any failure to do so is an excuse to reject the submission. A couple weeks later I got a rejection letter stating "A valid serial Number was not submitted from a valid Toshiba Notebook." and "Submission did not include an original UPC from a valid Toshiba laptop." Both statements are absolutely incorrect. I called the number listed on the letter, (888)221-4317 to assert my claim that all was indeed submitted properly. The representaties were not helpful. After getting to a manager I was told to take a picture of the serial number on the bottom of my computer in lieu of the UPC and fax it along with the rejection letter to (866)843-9980. I did so on 3/25. Again, following his directions to a T as I'm doubly wary at this point. I never heard anything back to so I called the service line once again on 4/13. They confirmed receipt of my fax but this time said my serial number was already submitted for a rebate so my fax was a duplicate request. I was told the issue would be escalated to management and I'll have to call back in 10 days to talk with them again to find out the determination. In my opinion all of this is designed to make the rebates Toshiba offers exceedingly difficult to redeem. I would not expect this type of operation from a large company like Toshiba. I present all the previous details in hope that others will report if they've been the victim of similar tactics. I know there's already one other report on this very topic on this site....I'd like to see a bunch more. At this point I doubt I will ever receive the rebate and I will be contacting Toshiba public relations about this matter.
