I receintly applied for a loan and the creditor went through Trans Union for a credit report. I was surprised to find most of the credit info seemed to be missing. On contacting Trans Union I was dismayed to find out that I had 2 credit reports attached to my SSN with Trans Union. After some bouncing around with customer service I finally was able to reach a person who could help. They merged the two files into one. The rep told me it looked like a creditor reported a different birth date and that caused the second report to be generated. Of course there was no security freeze on this second report. I callled to complain and spoke with a Brianna in Trans Unions special handling united states department, she informed me that this is common and that they just merge the files as people call in about it. There is nothing they will do to prevent this. This is an unacceptable security hole as far as I am concerned.
