I rented a trailer and bought a hitch to be installed on my car. When I reserved the trailer the representative at the 1800 number told I must pay a reservation fee of 50.00 which I did at that very moment.
When I finally picked up the trailer (very old and bad condition) they did not deducted the 50.00 from the final price, when I asked why they said it wasn't showing on the system. When I called UHAUL of VanNuys who was handling my reservations they told me the 50.00 was paid for the hitch rather than paid for the trailer, which by the way I was never told and it wasn't deducted from the hitch final price, which was 3 times more than advised when I made the reservation for the first time.
I have never received my 50.00 back and representatives at UHAUL of VanNuys were very rude to me. I finally disputed the charge with my bank but it seems UHAUL is giving a hard time regarding those 50.00 dollars. When I talked to the manager at the UHAUL location where I picked up the trailer they said he didn't know UHAUL 1-800 # charges a reservation. Is really dark and ugly this people charging reservations that at the end is not deducted from the final price. That's why I advised DO NOT USE UHAUL or don't pay the reservation fee... is just a RIPOFF!!!

REFUND

Following the advise of my fellow friend I did try to call the 1-800 listed above but no answer was the answer. I then contacted the BBB. They received my complaint and it took like three weeks for UHAUL to process my $50.00 refund. If you have a problem with UHAUL don't even try contacting them since they are very rude and unhelpful. Go directly to the Better Business Bureau they make a good job and it seems like works with UHAUL. I actually got my refund back after almost 6 months1 but hey...better later than never...thanks for the help!!!
However I did not receive an apology letter from UHAUL since I was treated so rudely by their people..but at this point hearing from them is the last thing I want to do.
Thanks!!! and no more business with Uhaul.

Uhaul Ripoff- How to get your $$ back

I recently posted a complaint on this site about UHaul as well. Let me tell you, they do not like to give refunds or admit they are wrong. I contacted corporate numerous times through the e-mail on the uhaul website, as well as contacted the Better Business Bureau- do not be afraid to contact them, that is what they are for. Once the BBB got involved, Uhaul finally decided to listen. The person that I spoke with at UHaul that finally resolved this issue was: Vernon Rollands at: 800-922-8805. If he cannot help you, ask to speak with Ron Putnam, a big wig in the company. Do not give up. Remember- The squeeky wheel gets the grease. Don't let them walk all over you like they tried to do to us. I wish you well, and please post in here the results.
