Well, usually I am one person who does not get scammed but the other day when I called the Veteran's Administration about our benefits, a message popped up while I was waiting to talk to a counselor for the VA.  A lady came on and told me that I was going to be offered a special certificate for calling that number today and I thought that the VA was somehow endorsing them.  Well it sounded really good and they offered me a certificate that would be emailed to me for a $100 gift certificate to Wal-Mart.  All I had to do was give them my credit card info and it was only for $1.95 and I thought that it sounded very good.   Understand this, I called the VA and they were right there within a minute while waiting on hold to set me up with their scam.  I thought well, I can trust them because they acted like it was something special that they were doing for the veterans and their families that day.  Well, I never received the certificate and I called them the other day when they had finally taken the $1.95 out of my account and told them I had never received that $100 certificate and that I believed that I had been lied to.

Again this morning when checking my account they have taken another charge out so they are stealing from people's accounts and that is what they want your bank info for.  I do not know how they are able to use the VA number to scam people out of their money but I can tell you this, that VA office is going to be getting a call from me next week and these people are going to regret this.  I think what they are doing now is a crime and I will be contacting the authorities about this and about them.  My bank has also been notified and they are looking into what they can do legally about them.  No one should be using respected institutions and their phone numbers to steal money from innocent people.  Veterans and their families have had to sacrifice enough without being taken advantage of in this way.  United Benefits, you should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of the veterans and their families!
