I heard the ad on the radio and it was really slick, we will work with your schedule you can work your regular job, just a few extra hours.  Minimum $8 an hour plus commission.  Well that is not what it was when I got there.  I drove in a major snow storm an hour for a phoney interview with Lacey. 

Everything was fine until I started to question the "flexible schedule". Then she switched it is a minimum 24 hours and every weekend no holiday pay no time off, minimum 8 hour shift on saturday or sunday and must work a Friday or a Monday in the same week.  I commented on the inflexibility of the flexible schedule and the conversation was immediately hostile. 

I said I really needed the extra hours for a few months and discussed the evaluation period which really sent her over the edge.  I commented "Well we can certainly try the schedule and at the end of the evaluation we can discuss how you feel and if I want to continue."  Mind you, I am very qualified, college degree, phone and computer experience and lots of customer service.  I am not new to rip off employers.  I have had my current position almost 9 years.  I don't hop around.

Lacey was very dismissive by that point and said well I will call you about a training schedule.  I called her yesterday to find out what the status was.  She called me to day to say "Your application is in an ineligble category and I am unable to change that."  I immediately questioned what that meant and who I needed to contact to determine if there is something negative that should be addressed.  THe more I asked the more evasive she became and said they most likely went with a more qualified candidate...really?

It turns out they do not like anyone to question their hiring or training practices. I started doing a little background and they are known for their control issues, hard pressure for upselling, scheduling coersion and intimidation tactics as well as very poor first line management.  This is sad in these time when good people are looking for honest work.  Shame on you United Marketing Group. 

Do not waste your time, move on to a responsible and respectful employer.
