Universal Gas & Electric -ripoff-scam Artists-dont Use This Co. Misleading, unhelpful, tenecious, decieving people, crooked, rip off scammers, beware these guys, Southfield Michigan

I just bought a house and the roads were being paved from dirt to cement. A very charming UNIVERSAL salesman comes to my door stating that because of derugulatory regulations here in Michigan, UNIVERSAL GAS & ELECTRIC was going to be taking over. I said I was really busy as I have two young children my daughter, only 1 month crying in my ear as I am on the porch with this tenacious guy. He said he was just there to make me aware of a change in our service. He said there would be no other bills coming to my or anything just in my DTE bill instead of Mich Con would be UNIVERSAL. I asked him again if this was going to change my bill, he says" no mam we're here to help the people from the big companies," HA HA! He said I have to just give him the DTE bill, that DTE knew he was there and that a rep would call me after he left if I had any questions. He asked me to sign the acknowledgement form and that would be all. They would send me back my bill.

I now owe hundreds of dollars in only a few monthes as they now have me in a contract for 5 years. I tried to contact a supervisor and they were rude and stated it was my own fault that I misunderstood the meaning of thier sales people coming to my home.

They said I would have to pay them $250 to release me from the contract. I said FINE I will need to start a payment plan now as I owe DTE for UNIVERSAL's fees. They said they would only cancel me after a check in full cleared. They are a very deceitful company and are only here to take advantage of the people of Michigan. What is odd too is MichCon is still being charged on my bill and then hundreds in distributing fees from Universal.

As this state economy declines, my husband and I, as well as many others here in Michigan are losing work and money, trying to just feed our children as it is, and then a company like this at Christmas time is taking full advantage. They provide no help even though I was MISLEAD by their salesperson. I am still working very hard at saving up to cancel from this company. I will also proabaly go to youtube and let people know what this company is about. Please heed the advice as I know many others who have been scammed as well. I just think this is terrible and needs to stop. Thank You!
