After 25 years of being a loyal customer, USAA flubs their accounting/billing and strings us along assuring us everything is fine and we will have coverage so long as we do x,y,z. We do x,y,z, and continue to get hints that we may not have auto coverage. We continue to contact them, assured that the "system" just hasn't caught up with our payments. We have not missed one payment!
After receiving reassurance many times by USAA that we were covered, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to make our payments thinking we had coverage. Otherwise, we would have went to another company for coverage.
The day after Christmas, my daughter got into an accident. Not until we had accumulated $970 in impound fees waiting for USAA to view the car, did they say we were not covered. How convenient. Honestly, what person in their right mind would let a 17 year old drive uninsured???
Don't trust anything USAA says on the phone by their agents. Get it in writing. I will be pursuing a suit against this company.

Come on.... If you don't know then you should. When you buy coverage you get a WRITTEN policy. That policy is what you paid for. All consumers should learn about their coverages and READ their policies.

Get an insurance card from usaa for your vehicle(s)? What does x,y and z mean? The card would have proved it was in writting. I would have though that after 25 years you would have figured it out. No card meant no insurance. They sure aren't what they use to be.
