We purchased this house which had polybutlyne pipes (quest); and within two weeks of moving in, had our first water pipe break. The second break came within the first six months. Because we had the two breaks fortunately for us, we were able to have all of the water pipes replaced at the expense of the company that manufactured the pipe due to a previous lawsuit. Well USAA had minimal to pay since most damage was covered under the lawsuit as well as the total house replumbing.

Would you believe that after the second break, USAA sent a letter threatening to cancel our insurance due to the "numerous" claims. I called them, and demanded an explanation. I explained that we've had insurance with them for over twenty and never had a major claim; and that we had the total house replumbed, so it wasn't as if we were willing the pipes to break. As the rep explained, this was a technicality and they quickly backed off the cancellation. However, this has put them in a different light for me, not as a company that stands with its customers.

We had several neighbors who were very dissatisfied with USAA so maybe this will be a wakeup call for them.

Looks like Bea's been busy

Bea, it looks like you've been a busy girl. Two homeowner claims and auto claims as well. Perhaps instead of questioning your insurance company and how they do business, think whether or not you would insure you if you were and insurance company. Statistics seem to lean against you and your run of luck lately. Maybe should think about self insuring; then you would only have yourself to complain about.
