I am extremely upset over the LIES and lack of respect of the customer service at the Grand Mayan. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! They tell you everything just to get you to purchase then you go to use it and it is all a LIE!! This is the email I sent to them and the response was sorrry you can cancel your contract but you lose everything!! Which to me is close to $30,000!!!! I have considered hiring a lawyer to fight their fraudulent activity that is occuring at this resort and will if nothing can be resolved. Here is the email to give you more detail:
To whom it may concern,
My mother and I purchased a contract with you 8/9/2010. We attended the sales presentation at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta. At the conclusion of the presentation we asked several questions regarding fees and I still have the paperwork that we wrote on and it was stated to us that no fees would be incurring unless we used the week and if we decided to bank it no fees would incur and we would just have to pay a minimal fee for trading. However this is NOT the case having tried to use the weeks that we have and being unsuccessful because it would cost us thousands to use it and after paying $30,000 so far for the unit why would I want to go spend more money! They also told us that each Mayan Group timeshare week would sell each year for a "guaranteed" $2500. This is also NOT the case! Christy Ross had told us which timeshare broker to use to try to rent them out and we are assuming since she did that she is getting a cut from them because when we called they specifically asked us which agent we worked with. And now 2 years later not one unit has rented! We were also told that YOU the Grand Mayan would also buy our weeks back that we did not use for $5000 a week and once again this was NOT the case because if it was we would have $50,000 in our hands for the 5 weeks per year that we do currently have. However, we only have paperwork stating that we have 3 weeks a year and not 5 which I did contact the sales person and they said that they would mail it for the other 2 weeks and have yet to receive 2 years later so I guess that was another SCAM  to get us to purchase.
These statements of Christy Ross and the manager that day led to out decision to purchase knowing that we were never going to use the weeks and would be able to get paid for the ones we didnt use and essentially get a free vacation when we did use the week. NONE of this was true. We made it perfectly clear that we would not purchase unless we knew that we would be able to sell them back to the Grand Mayan knowing we wouldnt use all the weeks and we did have another timeshare already. It is obvious that they stated everything they could to get us to buy the timeshare even thought it was all a LIE!
They also mailed us the paperwork home instead of giving it to us then so we wouldn't have a chance to thoroughly go thru it and cancel in the few days that they give you to do so. This is also a CON!
We were heavily scammed and are extremely unhappy with the way you and your company do business. We were lied to and manipulated just so you can make money. Two years later we have not used a single week and nor do we want to after we found out all the fees that were incurred in doing so. We were NEVER told about all these fees when we were signing the contract. We were also LIED to about how we can sell the units back the Grand Mayan if we were not going to use them. This is and will never be the case!  Your hotel and timeshare is a scam and to this day have spent almost $30,000 and have not used it once to the negligence of information that your staff does not share with the clients until they get a bill in the mail for a yearly fee when you don't even use a week.
My mother and I would like to completely cancel our contract and receive back the money that we have put into this FAKE contract which we have been LIED to the whole time by yoursales person and the managers. As far as we are concerned this hotel will never see any of our business ever again and I will never recommend anyone to come to this establishment.

THE LIES WERE NOT ONLY 1 OR 2 BUT THE ONES THAT THEY TOLD US IMPACT ANY TRAVEL WITH THEM AND THE FEES ARE IN THE THOUSANDS! DO NOT WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE!!

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: collins80j - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 22, 2013

I'm glad that your issue was resolved. Mine is now resolved too, but what a hassle it was to get a final solution. They completely lied in the presentation, then when we tried to cancel, they were uncooperative, unresponsive and downright rude.  I would never ever stay again at a Mayan Palace Timeshare resort, the hotel is beautiful, but the timeshare staff is rude and unprofessional. Stay away from these people!!
