I too fell for the "free lesson" come-on.
Since I was only interested in a single subject (PhotoShop), I figured it was worth the $6.95.
Received the package, installed without, as many people must do or VP wouldn't still be in business, reading the accompanying manual.
About 6 weeks later, received an Excel lesson. Since I had never ordered this, I checked my credit card. Sure enough, there was another $6.95 charge along with a charge for $79.95.
Finally read the little book that came with the first lesson. On the second or third page it states that unless you return 1 of the 3 cd's that come with the lesson, you will be charged full price - now $79.95. AND, here's the kicker, you are AUTOMATICALLY enrolled in their "lesson of the month" club.
I called and got an RMA for the Excel lesson. May or may not have been refunded the $6.95, but I haven't gotten another lesson since.
In my opinion, VP commercials are definitely misleading as there is no mention in the commercials of what you will be charged if you don't return the lesson.
So READ THE FINE PRINT!!

The Video Professor is a Crook!

Regarding the previous post from New Jersey who blames the victim for Video Professor's shady sales tactics... obviously this writer who says "buyer beware" also has no ethical standards. He would fit right into the conniving, scheming, dishonest sales environment at Video Professor. It would not surprise me that he is a bald-headed clone of the Video Professor!

Just because you chose to not read the agreement that came with the software doesn't mean it's a rip off. It is obviously very clearly stated in the package you received, not only what to do to avoid being charged, but how to avoid it as well. Your decision to not read it makes this entirely your fault and not a ripoff at all
