I have to agree with the numerous other folks who have the unfortunate opportunity to be a Wachovia customer. Wachovia continutally rips off their customers by their questionable practice of applying fees!! On 21 Oct 2004, my "available" balance up until midnight that day was $605. Available as defined by Wachovia is "Transactions that have been authorized but not yet posted are included".
On 22 Oct 2004, I viewed my account online just to find that I had been charged overdraft fees posted 21 Oct. How do I get overdraft fees when all day on 21 Oct, I had a positive available balance. Easy, there was a check for $625 that came in sometime on 21 Oct. It was not physically posted until after midnight 21 Oct but they use 21 Oct as the posting date. All of a sudden, my $600 available balance went down to -$20. How very very clever of them.
Wachovia is in no way customer service oriented, just look at their previous rebuttals. Has any of them given out their business phone number and asked the customer to call so they can find a way to help them. Guaranteed you wont see that happen. No matter, I'm moving on to another bank, one with less questionable business practices.

Don't Rely on ATM to Balance

First of all midnight eastern time is still the day before in the restr of the country. Wachovia posts just like any other bank at a set time. This could easily have showed as the day before.
Also, were there checks that could've hit to cause the overage. I have noticed on my account at another bank that not every credit transaction comes immediately off your available amount.
Don,t rely on the bank to keep your balance. You had to be aware of what was out there that hadn'r hit yet. It is up to you to track your own account. I agree with D and you should close your account and deal in cash if you can't keep track yourself.

If you can't keep good records on where you spend your money, and don't know how much you have left, please close your account and pay for everything with cash. That should stop all of the bank fees. Have a nice day.
